I want to install one of those waterless urinals in my bathroom. My wife won't let me though.

/I think you have to spray them down at least once a day to avoid the odor, which is the big sticking point

I've been thinking we're silly about water usage. We use it once and it's gone.

Ideally we'd use wash water to flush out toilets, but that's more involved than most people would go for.

To save water, you would have to pee before starting the water..because if you just stand there for 15 seconds peeing, that's the same amount of water.

It's called a greywater system. I have showers and both washers feeding into a whole house one which in turn cycles through the toilets and the garden hose I use for irrigation.

/different house for washing the dogs, filling squirt guns for water fights, etc

I'll use any sink, but usually the bathroom sink.

If my GF is hogging the bathroom, I'll just pee in the kitchen sink. She'll lose it if she ever finds out, though.

No you don't. As a a plumber I can tell you that is the worst idea ever. The seals constantly leak, the maintenance is horrible and not crushing the urine down with water causes the uric acid to build up on the walls of your pipes and chrystalize. I had clients insist that I put them in and they all wanted the pulled out with a couple if years. I won't even install then anymore.

That's one of the benefits of having a fenced yard and no neighbors behind my house. When I have to pee at night, it's 50/50 that I'll pee in my backyard while taking in a view of the Dallas skyline. I'll use the toilet if it's cold. Never the sink. At least not since I've lost my bachelor status.

So you take sponge baths out of the toilet? Perhaps swirl the foot around in there with some Epsom salts, flush and repeat?
