Serious Black: hubiestubert: You know, it would be great if we had actual Civics education, and the Federalist Papers as required reading for the voting public.I love the people who talk about how they are trying to restore the dream of the Federalist Papers and are basically advocating we turn America back into a confederacy. It's like they have no idea why the Federalist Papers were written in the first place or why we adopted the Constitution.
neenerist: "If the founders of America....caved in the face of early defeats..."Didn't the Founders remain steadfast against oppression of the common citizen by the wealthy and privileged? Consider a rename to East India Teabagger Company.
Xcott: First they have to articulate exactly what freedom they think is missing, and needs to be restored. This could be a huge time-saver if they realize that they're trying to save some vague sense of liberty from an imaginary threat, like UN troops amassing in Mexico to put conservatives in boxcars. In that case, they can simply declare victory and go home happy.
Orange-Pippin: FTA: According to data just published by the United Nations, in 2011 China surpassed, for the first time, the United States as the world's leading manufacturer.Response Blocked:The Bring Jobs Home Act would provide a 20% tax break for the costs of moving jobs back to the United States and would rescind business expense deductions available to companies that are associated with the cost of moving operations overseas..."There has to be a Tea Party member on Fark that can explain this.
liverleef: The tea party is destroying the GOP. Keep up the good work.
d23: ...Yes, Virginia, it was just as much against the East India Company as it was against King George. ... They seem happy to send some of the biggest corporate ass kissers to congress in their name.
hubiestubert: What "freedoms" are these folks fighting for exactly?Economic freedom? Because promoting corporate profits over local growth actually limits social mobility and competition in the markets.Religious freedom? Because freedom of religion means that the government doesn't interfere with anyone's right to worship--or not worship--no matter their faith. That means Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists and even atheists have the right to pursue their faith without support or hinderance.Privacy? Because a lot of the laws that TEA Party patriots seem to advocate run exactly counter to that.Equality? Because championing the cause of those who want to see limits on the rights of citizens to marry doesn't sound much like "freedom"...
Marcus Aurelius: "Restore American freedom"?You mean they're going to bring the 4th amendment back?
