tiamet4: Yeah, when I read the article, I was considering ordering some for cooking. My husband and I like spicy food and love Thai food so I had a bunch of ideas...however I don't think we could use anything that spicy. It sounds unpleasant to say the least.

Agreed. Habaneros are plenty hot, and they also have a nice sweet pepper flavor to them. Plus you can always add more. This stuff would be too hot to allow you to taste anything at all.

I'll note that back in San Francisco I used to order my Thai food Thai hot -- and I know it was authentically hot because the friend who introduced me to my favorite Thai restaurant lived in Thailand for a year and had plenty of experience with the food. Thai hot would make me go red in the face and have tears streaming down my face, and hell yes it hurt, but I loved it.

Here in Texas, when I've gone to Thai restaurants and ordered Thai hot, they've used serranos instead of Thai chiles. They just slice a couple and dump them on top of the dish, and without fail, even though technically serranos aren't as hot as Thai chiles, the dish is inedible. I started ordering things at "medium" just to avoid the pile of serranos, and they are almost hot enough like that. not quite where I'd like them to be, but I'm disinclined to waste my money on food I can't actually keep in my mouth long enough to chew it.

Dazrin: Lots of Thai food uses a spicy peanut sauce that can be (mostly) replicated using peanut butter as the main ingredient.

I do like Thai food a lot but even then, even disregarding from the excessive heat problem, satay is about the only thing I can think of using this for.

Sybarite: I do enjoy peanut butter stuffed jalapenos

PB-stuffed jalapeños are a thing? I've never heard of that before.

kroonermanblack: Personally I don't like the large crunchy things in my otherwise smooth sandwich.

So do you use jelly instead of preserves, too?

HST's Dead Carcass: After watching a Better Off Ted marathon this weekend, the headline made me giggle openly.

Wait, this happened? Damn.

Oh well, off to the DVDs.

This is the last time that so and so at work will steal my pb&j sandwich....

I hate crunky peanut butter because it feels like there's pieces of tooth in there.

/I have weak teeth.
