When I saw Harlan Ellison at a convention, he mistook me for a man, then, by way of apology, attempted to auction me off to a room full of people there to see his talk after telling me to "show my teeth" like a horse up for sale. Everyone just stared, made massively uncomfortable by the bizarrely chauvinistic turn of events, until finally a photographer for the event took pity and "bought" me for two dollars Canadian.

He's a lunatic and I can't believe nobody's killed him yet, but I don't bear him any personal ill will, particularly as I got a pretty funny story out of it.
