justtray: I don't understand how this is a role playing game.

Allow me to explain. In the game, you play the role of the new kid.

These are characters within the game engine, animated like any other.

Oh, except Matt and Trey and Obsidian have effectively made "interactive t.v." Because real-time graphics have caught up with the way South Park is produced.

Suspend your cynicism. This is serious to those guys, and they're about to EGOT GOTY.

Unfortunately I know better. It'd be amusing for a while until each skill is used about 50 times, and that's assuming it was designed well.

Games intended to hit the funny bone have to be deliberately short (Worms, Stacking) or have some other appeal (Pocket Fighter, Team Fortress 2) to have replay value. Games like Rampage and Dungeon Keeper eventually got boring from repetition. This is an RPG -- the longest and most repetitive game format in existence.

It's safer to design a game first and include funny parts than design a funny game and hope it's good. This is South Park, which has already flopped several times as a video game.

It's not the design; it's the idea. This is something I'd love to see succeed, but in reality it's a bad idea.

Norfolking Chance: Practical_Draconian: Obsidian knows how to make great storyline games and interesting RPG specs -- Fallout New Vegas, KOTOR 2, hell, even Dungeon Siege 3 had a interesting yarn for a bit. And most of those folks worked on Fallout 1 and 2. They also made Neverwinter Nights 2 and Alpha Protocol, the latter I remember getting roasted for being bad and buggy.

That said, they also make the buggiest-bug fark games this side of Bethesda. New Vegas was ungodly with the bugs and crashes. And I'm still pissed at the unfinished stuff in KOTOR 2.

As tempting as it is to preorder on Steam, I'm going to wait for the reviews and patches.

Also Farkers, it's not an MMO -- it's single player.

/crash to desktop from Kyle Jew spell or Cartman fart?

It's EA's fault KOTOR2 didn't have an ending. They wanted it released before Christmas and it just wasn't finished. The pc version has dialogue for the hk47 quest line still in the install files but the quest was not finished in time (along with what ever ending they wanted to put in)

EA is guilty of farking over many a game developer but in this case, it was LucasArts that pushed Obsidian to release KOTOR2 early. Now Dragon Age 2 is one where I'll put the blame on EA.

I dare you to say that outside of a Dungeons and Dragons convention.

The game appears to be modeled after the Paper Mario series.

Though come to think of it, a game featuring 4 kids traveling around an absurdist satire of small town america actually sounds like another certain Nintendo RPG series...

Does this game end the same way they ended Guitar Hero in their parody episode?

They showed gameplay. It's turn based and your guys stand in formation. When Cartman farts fire, when Mr. Slave runs out and jumps pantsless, and when Sparky is humping that kid, those are all attacks or summons. Pretty sure Mr Hankey was one, too. This is gonna be a lot of fun.

A Jew class? What is their special ability, increased gold gathering?

Seems silly but meh it may turn out okay.
