I don't understand how we can even still be having this discussion. Want to eat healthy? Here's how you do it:

Find a grocery store. This is the place where they sell food not pre-prepared by deepfrying in animal lard. Can usually be identified by the large parking lot out front and buggies arranged by the doors.

Enter the store and turn right. This is the vitamin section. You want to pick a wide variety of items from this area, with as many different colors as you can.

Next head down the back wall. This is the protein section. You should also pick a variety of items from this area, but more sparingly. 1 to 2 or even 1 to 3 ratio with the vitamin section.

Now head to the far left wall. This is the calcium section. You need to pick up a few things here to supplement your selections from the first two, but don't go overboard.

Lastly you'll need to do a quick search for the filler aisle. It will be situated somewhere in between the calcium section and the vitamin section and be distinguishable by containing bags or packages of material looking either like small or medium sized pellets. These items can be combined with water and then added to things you picked up from the protein and vitamin sections to round out a meal.

And that's it. The other aisles in the store contain nothing of value and are only there to confuse you. Do not be fooled by them.

The failure of the article is this, Coconut Oil contains high sources of MCFA, medium chained fatty acids. The saturated fat that we are told to avoid is LCFA, or long chained fatty acids.

Taste aside, coconut is extremely healthy, using the oil to cook vegetables or meats allows it to be absorbed into the item as long as the heat is not to high. The consumption of MCFA allows your body to quickly turn it into energy without an insulin spike, in other words if you've ever had bread and shortly afterwards you felt tired, you suffered a glycemic condition do to a change in your blood sugar.

Coconut has been shown to make the consumer lean, active, and more hungry and an improved metabolism can lead to a number of minor health benefits.

I highly recommend the usage of unrefined coconut oil in daily diet instead of vegetable oil, olive oil is still good but the benefits provided by coconut beat easily.

As for their comment about lettuce, as others have said its not bad for you in that it does a harmful interaction its just a waste of consumption. It is far better to consume spinach or kale if you want a leafy green. The folic acid is very good for you, both genders, and very important if the desire for having a baby is on the horizon.

Finally I've lived the lifestyle change over the past three years, starting with pure diet then shifting to minor exercise to finally hard iron pushing with a diet based on coconut oil topping in at 3500 cal a day. 6'9" 256 17% body fat

I made an attempt at being all Paleo last year and one of the recipes was for cocnut oil mayonaise. No, it was absolute sh*t so don't try it at home boys and girls.

Coconut oil is not fit for consumption.

No way. It makes killer muffins. The consistency is just right. Whenever the recipe calls for oil, use coconut oil and the muffins are super moist and fluffy.

/ on a 'add bacon to most things' diet. it all started one day when i ran out of olive oil. just replaced olive oil with bacon fat. and, according to my selective research, it's pretty much just as good for you.

I like to lightly steam Brussels Sprouts and sautee' them in bacon grease with black pepper.

many vegetables belong in bacon fat. i like to smother greens in bacon fat. you know what. i think it should be renamed bacon oil... or, even better: huile de cochon!

Wow, that article is retarded.

Saturated fat isn't bad. The mercury in smoked mackerel (depending on the kind of mackerel) or the sodium are far worse than the fat.

All of those are a hell of a lot better for you than junk food like fries and chips. This article is going to get fatties to say "See? Iceberg lettuce is bad for you! My fries are healthier than your salad!"

And iceberg lettuce is still not bad for you -- just not as healthy as other greens like spinach and romaine.

FTA In regards to lettuce "Alternatively, wilt leaves to make it easier to eat more of them." gah, wilted greens have a horrid texture and consistency in my opinion.

They also knock coconut but coconut is awesome. Milk, Water, and Oil are all very useful and tasty. Mmmmmm coconut oil popped popcorn. Also useful if you need a horse.
