These "photos that look like something they're not" are pretty amusing. Is there a site out there that specializes in this thing? I mean specifically this thing? Because I'd like to browse it when I'm in the mood for a chuckle.

inb4: The lie is a lie.

Interesting then that the lamp shade is throwing source light onto the thighs, yet the other parts of the background don't seem to be on the woman. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's a shop of a shop, and it really is a lamp.

I'm on my phone, but gis "the lamp is a lie is a lie"

Vaneshi: And the other question is: Is the image REALLY deleted as in 'gone from the server' or just hidden from public view?

No nothing gets "deleted" from their servers. If they are given a subpoena they will hand over all the data that they have for you. This will give you an idea of what happens when FB receives a subpoena on a person. Link

gwenners: Hence the Name...: SearchN: gwenners: SearchN: Are you saying you are looking out for my best interest?

Wait, what are you talking about, WE decided? MY best interests? How do you know what MY best interest is? How can you say what MY best interest is? What are you trying to say? I'M crazy? When I went to YOUR schools, I went to YOUR churches, I went to YOUR institutional learning facilities? So how can you say I'M crazy?

Long answer: Yes.

Short answer: While the opportunity arises occasionally for me to jab a certain mod for personal entertainment I do understand the point of view he has. With my proclivity to entice certain members of our community in specific threads, which may or may not be NSFW (Not Safe for Work), I agree with his statement. There is a certain line and once crossed it can lead to issues for employee's (note: not employers) when viewing said discussions. At times not only will the moderators take action to remove said images and or text, there are times when items will slip through the safety net at which point well minded users may point out the violations of the ToS (Terms of Service) that we all agree to when using this site.

So, longer answer: Yes, you are crazy.

/Threadjack over.

Some people just don't have suicidal tendencies, I guess.

Perhaps they'd be better if they were institutionalized?

/all I wanted was a Pepsi, and SearchN wouldn't give it to me

I kind of wonder what Facebook would have been like if it originated and was based in Europe.
2012-11-26 08:06:11 PM
While I get that we should try to stay kinda-sorta within NSFW here, being a public site and all, if you're at work and are honestly worried about a picture from a web forum getting you in trouble or fired, maybe you should not surf the web at work, or at least, do it on your cell phone.

I am the one with the Powah at my workplace. The POWAH to block and allow the internets as I see fit. I largely don't as our business is pretty old and the staff generally are grown up about such things, and I know I hated when my work internet was restricted more than necessary. That doesn't mean that I won't help if someone is so stupid about it that their manager requests a log of their net activities, I'll even interpret the results for 'em.

Hmm, you can get in big trouble for criticizing Ataturk. Silly Turkey - so many Turkish specific rules. I really don't get why that country is so sensitive about everything.

Ya know, people who don't know how the internet was designed to work or how to properly build a website have ZERO right to biatch when people link to their images. Idiots.

serial_crusher: Yeah, it's absolutely crazy that facebook's algorithm has such a high instance of false positives. Sheerly unfathomable that it might think that elbow was a boob.

Even with human moderators, my company has had to make our moderation tool configurable such that the moderator sees a small thumbnail of an image instead of the whole thing. Because let's see how you feel after a 12 hour shift of looking at full sized hoarse pictures. So yeah, it's understandable that a thumbnail of that would be quickly dismissed as a boob and not further inspected if the moderator was gay or an ass man.

uhh. people get paid to do that, it's their jorb. If you can't handle looking at random pictures all day then find another job....
