Son of Thunder: [Scans thread]
Yup. Called it.
Nothing brings out the haters 'round these parts like someone having lots of babies.

16 kids isn't a family, it's a litter. The only reason to have such a large brood is if you expect most of them to die before adulthood. This isn't the Middle Ages. In the Western world, modern medical care has brought the infant mortality rate way, way, way down. With 7 billion people on the planet, unfettered breeding is irresponsible and a waste of resources. You have to clothe and feed and educate all those kids. How much attention does each one get? I don't know if it's even possible for two people to care for so many offspring, which means the older kids have to shoulder the burdens of parenthood for their siblings.

So, yes, I have a dislike of large families. There is no argument you can make to show that it's beneficial for anyone.

ObscureNameHere: Bondith: If you're really so obsessed with my life choices, I can swing by your house with a cup and a turkey baster, and you can squirt it in whichever uterus you feel would be the best receptable.

I am not obsessed with your choices. You chose to quit the game of the human race. Bra-vo.

It is just disingenious that those of a similar temperment to yours get so outraged at the rest of the planet doing what -- literally-- comes naturally.

Since you have no true inclination to reproduce, species-wise we are better off without your genetic 'quitter' input.

Species don't go extinct because they don't reproduce, they go extinct because they fail to adapt. If we don't adapt to the realities of population pressures and finite resources, we will run smack into the natural consequences of that: diebacks, ecological damage, and possibly extinction in the extreme case.

Since we evolved these brains, why not use them to try and avoid those consequences, instead of "naturally" procreating. The "natural" solution isn't pretty.

And on a side note...

I'm reposting this from your profile, 'cause I thought it was cool.

One final thing I love about fark-all but the hardest, most stubborn trolls argument opponents has their soft side. Even many called blatantly "trolls" to their face crack a joke or post stating that they likedd someone else's joke. People I'll yell at in one thread disagreeing with their stance on some stupid bullshiat I'll have a laugh with in another thread, because no matter how mean any one post may make us look, we're all human and most of us are here to have fun, and we do.

All that said...I love you guys.

Personally, I would concede genetic superiority to anyone who can raise that big of a family off of welfare and stay sane. I think it's better when capable people reproduce,

Surpheon: aagrajag: At this point in history, any child after the second should require the parents to off themselves at 50.

Blah blah blah. Brainless Methusians are brainless. Empower women with equal rights, and lift populations out of poverty and overpopulation completely goes away. For each couple who chose to invest their time in a brood, there are three who take up travel/fancy cars/dancing horse/hipsterism/etc as their hobby. The US is now below replacement birthrate, which leaves the only first world nation actually breaking even on population growth France (I think, unless they've lagged recently). Populations that don't live in shiatholes naturally limit their population growth, that's documented fact. And it doesn't take any of your I-have-to-be-at-the-gym-in-26-minutes assholism to make happen.

Malthusian, and it doesn't even relate to what aagrajag is saying.

Also, know how I know you're talking out your asshole?

They could be useful donors for a rare blood type. Or a widespread and fantastic source of fresh organs for transplant later in your life. Or raise them as a small army of slaves. Who needs a TV remote when you have 16 children plus the inevitable grandchildren?

/in all seriousness I am 40 years old, never married, no kids and still shocked when I hear of grandparents younger than me such as in TFA. But they always look much older than I do, so there.

One of seven billion people on a planet with dwindling natural resources and arable land?

At this point in history, any child after the second should require the parents to off themselves at 50. Make some room for those of us who don't reproduce like a virus.
