Cold Play in all of it's...Cold Playiness...has a distinct (and incessantly repeated) production/arrangement/sound. You know Cold Play when you hear it.

It's like being in a crowded elevator when the smell of fart permeates the car. You didn't hear it, but you just know...it was the fat guy.

Cold Play: The fat guy who farts in your elevator.
