I bought this pen exactly one hour before the Declaration of Independence was stolen. Why? What's the significance? I DON'T KNOW!

I don't get it either. There isn't a basement at the Alamo. In fact, few places in Texas have basements because of the low elevation, which is practically at sea level. Stupid headline makes no scents.

The giant amount of limestone just under the surface dirt doesn't help, either. You ever tried clearing that crap? It's no fun.

It ain't sea level. Limestone is one reason- the clay soil, prone to expansion/contraction, is another.

But the main thing is that a need to make a foundation below the FROST LINE is the primary reason for digging a basement. Texas doesn't freeze for prolonged periods, so we don't have much use for them.

Since they lost their papers does this mean they're part of Mexico again?

I demand to see the original long-form declaration before we let them back into the US.

How long has Texas been blathering on about independence? They're like a 24 year old kid who won't move out of the basement. Get on with it already!
