This show is one of the clearest representations of dysfunctional family relationships I've ever seen.

There's a depth to the drama that's missing in pretty much every other show of its kind. And there's a solid through-line narrative of a son surpassing a father, yet still genuinely wanting his approval. It's a story about generations, one of self-delusion, and the next trying to understands and develop.

Also, they make big chunks of art out of metal.

I guess I can understand all of these comments from people who saw an episode or two, or just some commercials. There is a particular kind of production being made out of the documentary. That serves as the final and delicious wrinkle in the narrative. The show itself is an extension of the people within it. How they manipulate it to represent themselves is just more information on their character.

(I don't give a shiat about motorcycles, and I don't identify with machismo. But I do value an endeavor that sheds light on the human condition. And this has done it in spades.)

I had no idea it was still on. I tried to like that show but it got to be very repetitive. Their bikes always looked the same to me with only paint jobs to tell them apart.

Chelsea Clinton Is Carrot Top's Lost Twin: Seriously that. AC is definitely one of the most annoying shows out there. Same lame "plot" each and every time.

every "build" show is: cars, bikes, doesn't matter
1. "build will be difficult"
2. "ZOMG, we'll NEVER get it done in time"
3. "builders scream at each other for a few minutes"
4. "customer is here and we're just finishing"

I was over the show after 2 seasons or so. It got real old real quick.

can't believe people watched it for 10 seasons.

I understand all the work that goes into their choppers, however most of them look only rideable to the next tavern. They all look way too uncomfortable to ride any distance.

"Tonight, on a very special American Chopper, Paul, Sr. yells and throws tools while the shop builds yet-another off-the rack chopper with some different CNC'ed doodads bolted onto it..."

/Paul, Jr mopes...
//Mikey does man-childy stuff and paints what could be generously called naive art...

MrHappyRotter: That one asshole son is actually hot if you put the TV on mute and pretend he's not having a regular temper tantrums.

Which one? Pig Nose or Down Syndrome?

That show was still on? I thought they've been showing reruns this whole time.
