And remember this when people say people should just 'quit it'. Think of all the times you just rub one out for nothing better to do and it feels good and remember, it's 1,000,000 times better than that. Chasing the dragon is because it's never as good as the first time, but it still feels better than anything else you'll ever do, even when your life is going to shiat, you can have a feeling than 95% of the world will never experience. Heroin addicts gladly give up everything else in their life just to have a smidgen of that feeling again. It's unholy in that it's quite simply the best pleasure I've ever felt, everything else has paled in comparison.

I've always viewed it as a kind of Pandora's Box, precisely because of that description. I've never shown any predisposition to addiction, and I'm confident (but who can be certain?) that'd I'd be able to do a one-and-done heroin high, but I've never tried it (or any other 'hard' drugs for that matter, because, really, why bother with 'lesser' narcotics?).

Nonetheless, I've always wondered what it'd be like. Then I think 'Would I want to know?', knowing that the only way back to that state is to destroy myself? Would I be able to let the rational part of my brain convince the drug-enjoying part that "Dude, trust me, it'll never be that good again, so just quit while you're ahead (and alive!)"

It's kind of like that 'Would you want to be God for a day?" How could you go back to enjoying regular mortal life having had a taste of that omniscience? How could any experience ever measure up?
