Although this might explain the $70 I can't explain in my balance
2001-11-20 03:53:03 PM
All your soft porn are belong to us?
2001-11-20 03:54:10 PM
Big deal. Just watch your statements. It's not like every restaurant you've been to doesn't have your credit card # anyway.
2001-11-20 03:54:49 PM
Is nothing sacred. I hope that they charge these dirtbags under the new terroism laws, kill the cocksuckers!!!
2001-11-20 03:54:59 PM
Playboy.com has been hacked; the terrorists have won. ;-)
2001-11-20 03:55:45 PM
My cards are all maxxed out (maxed?) anyway. They'd get laughed at if they tried to charge anything.

(assuming Playboy has my credit card number of course)
2001-11-20 03:57:03 PM
If they had intended to rack up significant charges on credit cards....would they have warned the card-holders?
I'm think not. It was a security check that Playboy failed... but with the new FBI "after the fact Watchdogs", I'm sure these people are considered in the same vein as bin Laden...

Think for yourself!

DAMN HACKER! Me hate hacker who messin' with Playboy!!
2001-11-20 04:03:10 PM
So that's why I saw Larry Flynt in my computer hacking class.
2001-11-20 04:03:52 PM
It's not a "terrorist" action but its yet another example of absolutely horrendous security on the web. Playboy should be accountable for any charges or fees incurred by its customers. Customers should be entitled to punative damages. There's really no excuse for this anymore. Their I/S department should be canned from the top down.
2001-11-20 04:05:58 PM
so if these guys were to run up (somehow) 10 mil in fraud, who'd pay for it? The credit card companies, or playboy.com, or what?
2001-11-20 04:06:27 PM
why couldnt this happen when I was in high school, DAMNIT

2001-11-20 04:07:56 PM
"I only subscribed for their articles, darling!"

Seriously though, who'd pay for that shiat, their pictures are boring as hell.
If theres no chance of seeing the holiest of holies then i lose interest.

Plus, there is, like this thing called Usenet where you can get any pic for free.
2001-11-20 04:13:04 PM
No kiddin' Substrate. Oooh, the article says that playboy.com "has firewalls", well gee, that should have been enough, right? Are they running the site with a software package they picked up at Radio Shack? How hard is some basic security? They could at least move customer information onto a seperate server every once in a while.

Good thing I get my porn the old fashioned way: from free sites.
2001-11-20 04:14:08 PM
Boobies are the root of all evil.
2001-11-20 04:16:58 PM
what kind of loser becomes a member of that kind ahhhhhhh
gotta run
2001-11-20 04:17:41 PM
explain that one to the old lady
2001-11-20 04:22:36 PM
serves them right for paying for porn that's not really porn but actually a major tease.

Free Boobies for everyone!
2001-11-20 04:22:50 PM
Their website's crappy, anyway. I rely on my fellow farkers for good links to pictures.
2001-11-20 04:23:16 PM
Internet security failure = Microsoft.

-he who stacks pork
2001-11-20 04:27:18 PM
stupid faggoty Mac user= Porkcocker.

(Macs overall aren't bad systems.. but Cockstacker makes them worth nothing.)
2001-11-20 04:29:06 PM
See, I had to join coz this girl I went to high school with posed for the college issue but didn't make it into the magazine (and having seen the pictures, I can understand why) so I had to get them and send them off to all my old buds. Then wouldn't ya know it, Angelica Bridges shows up in the next months playoy. There's another 8 bucks. Now these guys might have my credit card number. Swell.
2001-11-20 04:29:49 PM
Excuses, Excuses
2001-11-20 04:30:31 PM
I just steal them from my Dad's stash in the basement, of course they're 25 years old...
2001-11-20 04:30:50 PM
No worries for me. I applied as "Santos L. Halper"
2001-11-20 04:33:23 PM
This happened to me with egghead.com (What a bunch of eggheads.) One day, all my recurring payments that use my debit card started failing. I called the bank. "OH we changed your card number because egghead.com got hacked."
-- Ummm, OK, ever thought of telling the customers?
2001-11-20 04:35:06 PM
I wrote a Visual Basic program once that used the web transfer control to download every Playboy centerfold off their site. It was about 15 lines of VB as I recall. The end result? Very large pics from 1955 - present.

Deathcow, share the wealth, brotha.

Did France Surrender???
2001-11-20 04:48:42 PM
wah. what's that saying about the world's smallest violin?

with something like this, it might be a small pain in the ass to get the fraudulent charges taken off the bill, but since the credit card company knows, it won't be that big a deal. there might be some embarrassment for people who were going places they weren't supposed to be going... oh well.
2001-11-20 05:08:21 PM
inside job... or somebodies little script kid trying to be bigtime.......
2001-11-20 05:26:29 PM
I had no idea Playboy's a publicly traded company.
2001-11-20 05:39:57 PM
i prefer GUBA for pron. when they get hacked i'll be pissed
2001-11-20 05:46:28 PM
In the e-mail message, obtained by CNNfn, the group identified the name, credit card number and expiration date of the customer.
Hummm I'll bet I know how they obtained it.....

Who pays for porn on the internet...?
2001-11-20 07:02:44 PM
Search the word "ingreslock" and note the name of the hackers in the story...
2001-11-20 07:36:09 PM
So all you guys know.. I work at Playboy..

The articles are wrong.. but news places like to run with shiat they don't understand.

There was a hacking incident, but it was NOT on the Playboy.com OR Cyber Club servers. It was on the STORE site -- which is in a totally different center, on different servers, two time zones away, run by an /outsourced/ group.

The Cyber Club site is SECURE. All credit card data for that is stored encrypted with a key only held by the credit card auth equipment at the bank -- NOT on site.

2001-11-20 07:55:43 PM
Wax, do they let you scrog the Icy Hot Stuntaz hoes?
2001-11-20 09:37:31 PM
The worst part is that this is technically not necessary. No website should be required or allowed to keep a credit card on file.

Visa and MasterCard (or possibly a 3rd party processor) have mechanisms to allow "one use" credit card numbers, where the user basically goes to a visa website and requests a temporary number good for one use, then submits that temp number to the website.

Why can't this be taken a step further where after submitting a request the car processor automatically returns one of these temporary cards that are ONLY usable by the site its issued to. In conjunction with fraud detection this would be more secure for the processor, financial institution, merhcant and the consumer.

This would allow the site to do recurring payments or keep a card number on hand that could be EASILY deactivated or even better yet, not accepted for new transactions only recurring payments for a specific amount.

Want to know why we don't have this? Basically, getting that industry to accept change is like trying to get Bill Gates to admit that MS has used monopolistic business practices. I've worked in the debit and credit card processing industry, at best the web offerings are just cruft slapped ontop of aging systems that were most likely slapped ontop of some other ancient system.

I have no credit cards.
I also have no debt, no credit reference and no woman.
Life is sweet.
2001-11-20 10:40:13 PM
damn candypink....ever see the sun?
2001-11-20 11:00:39 PM
LOL, a bunch of pervs are freaked out by this.
Playboy is for losers, c'mon guys..you can get the real thing if you tried. BTW, having a conversation while staring at a girls chest doesn't endear you to her. Just a tip. It's on my mind because I dealt with it 20 minutes ago. This guy made Forrest Gump look like the Pres of MENSA.

Although I will now go out of my way to say Slayerswine is one cool dude, because he tells it like it is. I'm just a bit disappointed that you check out Playboy online Slayer..I blame Fark chat for banning you.
2001-11-21 12:31:30 AM
so you're saying that you have a nice chest.....eh?
2001-11-21 02:55:02 AM
Zero I don't feel fit to judge my own chest.
However, if you would like me to track down the guy with the aforementioned staring problem, I will be more than happy.

Playboy is art. Porn is something else entirely.
