I like to have scotch about once a year, and that's when I save up and order something good. Anything with a red label on it tastes like peat bog and isn't worth consuming.

I only use Shasta's Diet Chocolate Soda for mixing with scotch. Nothing but the best for me.

subby, note that the scotch in this story was barrel aged that entire time, and just bottled recently. So unless you're claiming that one should buy their scotch in a barrel and age it in optimum conditions for 5 decades, this story doesn't really indicate any form of investment opportunity.

I love scotch, but I'll be damn if I can pronounce half of them. My latest favorite is an Islay called Caol Ila. If you heard me trying to pronounce it, you'd think I had a very recent head injury.

I believe it's pronounced "kall eela" and it is tasty.

Love scotch, think "older" is overrated. Can't tell enough difference between most 12 and 18 year olds to justify the cost difference.

Agreed. While I am always leaning to a nice Islay if one is available, the Glenmorangie 10 is an outstanding drink and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

It's a logarithmic curve, where price is the X and taste is the Y. Beyond 20 years or so you're spending sh*tloads of cash for a minor taste payoff.

scotch, served neat. not the really good stuff, but just something decent.
it really is the best thing ever.

There's a real tasty single malt from Virginia you might like - Wasmund's.

Its taste is much milder than Scotch (much of the flavor of which comes from peat). Wasmund's is aged in oak barrels with apple wood chips.
