That article did an extraordinarily good job of making me want to line up everybody quoted in it and punch them in the face.

In related news, there are delicate flowers in the world who give a flying fark what others think, and fear being judged for their CHOICE OF PHONE.

rocky_howard: Also, I'm a BlackBerry user.

I like it better than anything out there because it does what I want better than anything out there, i.e.: Communication.

I don't care about fancy "apps" or "Instagram" or whatever fart app you're using. People talk shiat about iPhone, I remember a few months ago, "Oh I can play DrawSomething on my iPhone." Well, are you playing it now? Cause 2-3 weeks after it blew up, nobody was playing it anymore. Most people who have iPhones are sheep. Seriously. They buy things not because they use it, but because other people do. And drop your anecdotes about how you can manage your media center, check on your investments and cure cancer with your iPhone, nobody cares. Great, you're not a sheep. Guess what? Everybody else is still one.

I can use Twitter, Facebook, FourSquare and WhatsApp with BlackBerry. That's enough for me.

I have perfect call signal. Great text messaging. Exclusive BBM chat messaging.

If you want to communicate, nothing beats a BlackBerry. Other phones get around with fancy screens and useless apps (iOS/Android do indeed have truly useful apps though).

xynix: BB: Very durable

Agreed. My BB Torch has very solid hardware. Much better than anything I've seen from Samsung, HTC or Motorola's Droid series. Too bad that it runs BB-OS instead of something else.

So no charger for it? Guy's a jerk, BBs use (or used to) the same flavour of USB as androids.

T.rex: Thats funny... i always carry my personal Android along with my work Blackberry, thusly, someone is able to deduce that the Blackberry was forced upon me by my employment.

Who are you people? Who the fark cares what kind of phone someone has?? Why would you care what someone thinks of your phone??

I just realized it... I think I've turned into my dad. shiat.

I started to think of ways that I could justify my continued BlackBerry use. The best I can come up with is that I'm poor and cheap, and as long as it keeps on working fine for what I use it for, I see no reason to replace it.

It's kind of funny- for the boomers when they were teenagers, the status symbol to have was a car. They were cheap enough/people had enough purchasing power back then that everybody could afford one. Nowadays, very few teens can afford a car, but many can afford to spend $200+ $50/month for the latest smartphone, which has become the status symbol du jour. What will happen in the future as our purchasing power continues to erode?

I have a Blackberry for work purposes, and an Android phone for personal use. The Blackberry is farking terrible. I hate the thing with a passion. I can't wait for my employer to embrace BYOD so I can be rid of the thing.

The things RIM does well, they do very well. As someone that has to support the corporate backend for mobile devices, I wish that rolling out iPhones, Android, and Windows phones was as evolved as BES. I've also migrated lots of companies from BB to iPhone, including my own.

But some of the BB users in the article just aren't that bright.

FTFA: "I constantly ask people, 'What is so great about it?' and they have these nonsensical answers," he said. "Someone told me I'm missing out on some app that maps their ski runs. I ski four days a year. On the road, I don't need a ski app."

Because of my profession, I run into this too- someone will ask me what's to like about the iPhone, without telling me what it is they do on a day-to-day basis. Of course my example runs the risk of striking them as useless- It's useful only because its an example of something highly specific that meets my particular needs. I would have to know a lot more about someone to pull something similar out of the air for their situation. I usually show them the whizzier stuff on my phone that they're capable of understanding- say, hitting my home video library with air video and playing a movie, or launching the slingbox app to play live TV from my satellite service. Sometime, the response is "why would I want to watch TV on my phone?", meaning that they've completely missed my point.

Better punishment: Make them use one of these for the rest of time:

"I feel absolutely helpless," said Ms. Gossage.
"I'm ashamed of it," said Ms. Crosby
"You get used to that kind of rejection," she said.
"I want to take a bat to it," Ms. Crosby said

You'd think these people had AIDS or something.

LA snob-people problems. Also, are Blackberries out-of-date and impractical enough for hipsters to use them yet?
