I once made the argument on Fark that British tabloids love doing this kind of thing. But many Brits suggested that America does it in equal proportion. I still have my doubts.

I'm not really sure what these people expect of celebrities? To look fabulous from age 18 until death?

OMG, a 41 year old females goes shopping for groceries without applying two tons of makeup and everyone is "ugh."

I feel sorry for those of you who are so very deluded, because chances are pretty good that the few of you that ever do manage to get laid will most likely be sharing a bed with something far less attractive than Shannon when you are middle aged.

That being said, she was always more "traditionally pretty" complete with the curves and slight gap in the front teeth than your average modern rail thin actress, but that's probably why she was able to resurrect her career and continue to be successful long after she was known as the "Lindsey Lohan" of her generation. She actually has talent, including the ability to do some mild comedy, and after her post 90210 melt down she pulled her shiat together and got back to being a professional.

You missed the point here. She had the nerve to use some of her millions on food and hasn't used it on major placstic surgery.
Also, with regard to talent/writing, 90210 was better with her than without her - Post Brenda 90210 (with Tiffany Amber Thiessen and then whatsherface from Las Vegas) was the start of the over-the-top superbiatch who does bad things just because, yet still maintains friendships and relationships with the people she ruins. Stupid stupid stupid character premise.
Charmed was better after she left. The acting and writing for Charmed on both counts were tragic (save for some of the secondary characters), but Rose McGowan was a major upgrade.

I see her in those "go to adult college or w/e" commercials and all I can think of is the gap in her teeth. Why's it there? I thought rich people could fix those things? Or maybe she isn't rich anymore which is why she had to go to adult college.

She looked good her last two years on 90210, but she was never supposed to be some beauty (I don't think), just attractive. Who was the most attractive on that show, that's the real question. If Valerie looked like she did on Saved by the bell it wouldve been her easily. When Kelly Kapowski was a lifeguard at that beach resort.....mmmmmmmm

But if Cindy Crawfords mole started to cover her entire cheek then surely she would have it removed and we would all thank her for it. Doughertys gap is rapidly expanding. Soon it will be to the point that Dr. Dre's dick will no longer fit.

Actress, Entertainer =/= 'Public Figure'

Morons assume anyone involved in entertainment is a 'public figure.' I imagine a lot of them would like nothing more than to do the job they love, but still remain relatively anonymous.
