Nixon also had a secret plan to fix America's problems and was similarly short on providing details.

FlyingJ: meh, stay tuned for Clinton over Bush I, Clinton over Dole, Obama over McCain

Those men were never called weak-kneed yellow-bellied pussies by their opponents. Unlike McGovern and Kerry and other liberal veterans.

See the difference?

I just hope people remember what a bad a choice people made by not electing him.
I wouldn't be surprised if his dying words were "I told you so".

I remember my Mother was horrified that the people in the US would treat a man that had flown 35 missions over Europe so dismissively..

Just think how this country would have turned out without 2 terms of Nixon.

He might have, which is the reasons the Republicans threw only the best dirty tricks at him so he could lose.

Interesting election times:. Muskgee on acid and Eagleburger made out to be the greatest threat to our country. Sheer coincidence.

I took a week off of college to work on his campaign the last week before the election. (University supported that as an "educational opportunity".) Drove flyers all day to the poll workers in my town at the various schools. At the end of the day, as we watched the results come in, we started laughing hysterically because it was so incredibly one-sided. Funny, but very sad.

Go with grace, Senator. You'll be fondly remembered.
