Rephrase the question....Your house is on fire, IF YOU COULD ONLY TAKE ONE THING OUT OF THE HOUSE, what would it be?

The fire.

If I had time to save two things, I'd save my wife and my dog.

If I had time to save only one thing, I'd die in a fire trying to save my wife and my dog.

knowless: My fire box, which is designed for this purpose, if i had a family my answer of course would be different.

I thought the point of the fire box is so you DON'T have to think and try to save anything. Just let the house burn and the water from the hoses put it out. Pop out the safe and viola, your vintage issue of Playboy with your ex girlfriend on the cover is safe.

Vangor: I hope my guinea pig. Little guy is stuck in a cage and would be unable to escape as would a cat or dog. Unfortunately, my first thought was my usb drive of education and personal documents which, while useful, is replaceable in some manner unlike the piggle.

If I ever have to burgle someone's house, I'll just head straight for the "go bag" filled with all of their most valuable and irreplaceable property, that so many Farkers apparently have sitting next to their front doors.

My external HD.

Pretty much most of my life's output (including wedding pictures, essays, journals, geneology, various demos for bands I've been in over the years etc.) is on it. Also, every CD or DVD I have ever owned, and a good chunk of my favorite video games too.

/what's this "cloud" thing I keep hearing about?
