Thats correct. As MPCS is a much smaller carrier I'd imagine they're going to convert over to GSM eventually. This merger won't be completed for a couple of years at least.

The VZW/Alltel merger is still ongoing (divestiture and movement/decommissioning of Alltel assets)

i just hope t-mobile doesn't ruin my metro pcs the way verizon ruined my alltel! i left verizon when my contract was up and went to metro. my coverage was only slightly better on verizon, but the customer service at verizon is horrendous! plus i'm getting much better service (unlimited calls, texts, web) for about the same price as my quite-limited verizon service

Well, considering all of them are customer's of mine I can say with certainty Alltel were the nicest bunch of folks to deal with and MPCS a close second, with Sprint almost tied. TMO is nervous and jittery all the and their cobbled together network just scares me but they do seem to care about the customers.

VZW is in a class all by itself and impossible to deal with.

Alltel bent over backwards to provide a robust network and they had preferred roaming with Sprint which was very nice. Alltel's forte was rural markets and while I despise VZW I understand why they scooped them up. The cost to venture into those markets was too expensive. When VZW took over Alltel the preferred roaming went bye bye so that would be some of the complaints i've heard about Sprint coverage.

I don't see TMO messing with MPCS right now. Maybe in a couple of years you'll see some changes but wait and see.

I briefly sold MPCS. A lot of the phones are absolute garbage (it's quicker to list the models that aren't) and people think you're up to something when you try to talk them out of buying one that you know they're just going to come back and biatch about. But I loved loved loved taking Sprint customers who were angry at the Sprint store across the street. People would break contract and buy a phone that gets 1/3 of the voice coverage they're used to, just to see the 4G icon light up without having to drive 1.5 hours down the highway. Hopefully improvements will come with the merger.

I doubt T-Mobile will ruin MetroPCS... what everyone who doesn't have them forgets about Metro is that the reason they're cheap is that there's no subsidy of the device. Want a top-end phone on Metro? Too fscking bad; they won't sell it to you because they don't want a $600 phone on their price list.

T-Mobile has plans that do the same thing at a similar price point, but since they're GSM you can just go get a Galaxy Nexus online. Most people are bad at math, though, and pay $20-30/mo more for 2 years to get $300 off a phone.

Hey geek boy, we'll let you know when it's time for you to do your little part of the lifting. Let us guys in Mergers & Acquisitions do the big thinking, when it's time for the petty details like making the IPV8 whatever hubswitch work, we'll get with you drones in IT. That's why I have a company car and you live in fear of some guy in Delhi having your job next month. If you don't like it educate yourself and get a real job. Same thing I said to that biatch at the diner who thinks 20% tips were outlined in the Magna Carta.

I hope this only makes things better for Metro PCS customers. I've used them for the last 7 years or so and have never had any serious issues (outside of shiatty reception indoors). I prefer Metro over any of the other carriers because you don't pay for minutes or data, something that I think is utterly insane to pay for, it's like AOL pay by the hour internet. As long as T-Mobile doesn't start implementing minutes on talk or data, and they add a better selection of phones and more coverage then I think this could work out well for current Metro PCS subscribers

The T-Mobile girl has a bangin' body, no doubt. But there's a reason why they seldom show her face in close-up, especially when she smiles. (Two words: dolphin teeth)
