I do find it annoying when a halfway decent game is ruined / makes you look like a creep for playing it by being stuffed full of un-necessary up-skirt, boob-jiggle and other distractions from actual gameplay.

FunkOut: TwistedFark: rickycal78: I look at it like this, I don't go buy a game because "OMG TITTAYS!", and huge tits won't save a bad game. But I'll be damned if I don't mind the eyecandy if there are big tits in a decent game.

Same. I love me some big titties. I don't understand why people cry baby about this all the time. It's no different than liking girls with long legs, or short girls (or tall girls) or blondes. It's just that tits are overtly sexual in nature, so that makes it BAD. At least in America, not so much in other countries.

Of course, I have a huge boob fetish (both literally and figuratively). My wife has a 32H rack and in a few days I expect that to be upgraded to a 32J when we get to her doctor in San Diego.

Because boob size is now basically considered the only thing that matters about female sexiness and a giant pair of stretched out hard number basketballs with wall eyed flat nipples is considered always better than a pair of perky C cups with perfect nips. And there's no in-betweens, there's only "big" and "flat" for the two categories. If a girl isn't big, she's considered completely flat.

But you already knew that.

You sound fat flat.

Actually, this is probably more appropriate:

Because really, that seems to be your only complaint, unless you want to go down the route of infantilzing my wife (or all women in general) by assuming that she is incapable of making her own decisions for her own mental/emotional/physical well being and needs someone else to do it for her. The general attitude here is, "It's too bad that she's listening to (pick one) TV, magazines, movies, her abusive boyfriend/husband, pop culture instead of ME, the divine font of all that is good for every woman on the planet." Better known as the "freedom to choose, but only what I agree with" brand of feminism.

I find this particular brand of self-shaming quite amusing, because the rejoinder is quite obvious: "So, she's making bad decisions and needs someone to tell her what to do for her own well being? You mean, like a MAN? You've come a long way baby."

PanicMan: Need a Dispenser Here: If you want to see gigantic tits in a video game, look no further than Borderlands 2. Of course, they are attached to massive gut and massive ass.

Came here to say this. I'd go find a photo, but... yeah I'm not going to do that.

Another 'bubble tits physics' hater here. There's nothing worse than being constantly reminded that you're engaging in a activity intended for horny 14 year old boys.

Many male characters in fighting games wear less clothing than female characters.

It's not about the amount of clothing, but the style and what it's intended to portray:

Oh for heavens sake. Dead or Alive practically invented video game breast jiggle. It's what the game is known for.

This just in, Hustler magazine has pictures of vaginas in it!

Not all video games have bubble breasted bimbos.

zarberg: HotWingConspiracy: This just in: Sex sells in every form of media

The attitude of the US as a whole when it comes to sex is ironic at best and idiotic at worst.

We Americans are the unwanted flotsam and jetsam of the world. Puritans, lunatics, poor, Irish, political radicals, etc... everyone that someone else wanted out of the Old Country. Of course we're screwed up.

There used to be a few MMOs that allowed customers to radically tweak their characters' body shapes. Bust size, waist circumference, arm size, etc. It was done as a hat tip to complaints about unrealistic body types being "forced" on impressionable young players.

Rather than result in the egalitarian, "real" cross-section of body types they expected, men built superhero proportioned dudes and women built huge-breasted, tiny-waisted Barbies. It was so disturbing and embarrassing, games rarely do it anymore.

Because it turns out that for all the whining about unrealistic cultural norms re: beauty, people play games to "escape" from reality, and many people, when playing an ostensibly human character, want to look more in line with supposedly "unfair" societal expectations of beauty when given the chance than less.

It's just like all the focus groups around men's underwear packaging. People joke that they would sell more if they were covered with nearly naked women instead of ripped half-naked dudes, but they've focus grouped the hell out of it, and men's subconscious desire to look like the dudes on the packaging motivates them to buy product more than anything else. Otherwise they wouldn't do it.

Well, initially video games had to exaggerate secondary sexual characteristics pretty hard because they were, essentially, cartoons and art styles approaching photorealism would have made it unclear to the audience whether the character was even male or female. Even nowadays it's not intended for titillation in most cases so much as it's an artistic shorthand to say something about the character.

Basically, arbitrarily large shoulders, abdominal muscles visible, jaw unrealistically square is shorthand for traditional machismo, an unrealistic hourglass figure is shorthand that the character is supposed to be sexually active and attractive, very minimal secondary sexual characteristics (thin shoulders, small breasts) indicate that the character is young, a rounded back and stooped shoulders means they're old, a large belly means they're passionate and at least moderately jovial, wide eyes means innocence, and so on.

The other tool for giving a cartoon personality is body language, but given the limitations of art and animation you're a bit limited there. Beyond a wide stance for action types and a closed one for meek types, there's not a lot you can do to give a cartoon personality without having them overtly flex at the camera or verbally state their character.

I mean, there certainly are porn games and characters designed as fetish fuel more than actual characters (hello, literally everything from a non-Nintendo company based in Japan), but that's not really the majority of why you're going to see it. You'll mostly see it for the same reason that female lizard-aliens on Star Trek had cleavage and Betty Boop was shaped like a literal hourglass-- it just allows the audience to know something about the character (most commonly simply that they're female or feminine in some way) without making the writer stick in a monologue giving their psych evaluation like a damned moron.

Phrases I have never heard:

"Half-life 2 would have been totally awesome if they'd given Alyx huge knockers."

"You know why World of Warcraft is so addictive? Two words: Goblin jubblies."

"Why do people still buy Mario games? Peach doesn't even have realistic jiggle physics."

I can only imagine how narrow the demographic is they're listening to for feedback.

Yes. Focus a little less on the eye-candy and a little more on making it a good overall playing experience, please and thank you. I can't be bothered to give a shiat about Lara Croft's delicate jiggle when the mechanics suck too bad to keep me interested.

cgraves67: As Cythraul mentioned above, male video game characters are usually not representative of male video game players any more than female video game characters are representative of female players. The female characters look like ultra-enhanced porn stars, the male characters look like roided-up pro wrestlers.

So, in essence, video games suffer from "Liefeld Syndrome"?

Cythraul: Well, duh! I don't really care about big boobed video game characters though. I just wish they'd exaggerate their male characters in the same way. I want my male toon to have a bulging package, huge muscles, and look like an animated Tom-of-Finland sketch.

Come to think of it, they pretty much do most of that already.

Lol I was about to say, "Someone hasn't played enough gears of war"
