We aren't necessarily disputing that she may have pressed mute, we're saying the commercial's implication that it means she was tired of listening to Obama when it would have only prevented him from hearing something coming from her end of the call.

Or are they saying it is disrespectful because she muted it to rip one and wave it at the receiver or something?

Huh, so I'm not the only one.

I often hit mute on important calls so any background noises in my location do not distract the speaker. This is especially true if the speaker is important. And it is imperative if I have gas.
