syberpud: lennavan: If only there was something voters could do about this and the douchebags who refuse to call her on her corruption.

If she's bringing home money to the district, she's doin' a good job! That's how DC's Marion Barry has maintained a political life.

I remember some pundit floated the idea of everyone getting 2 votes: one traditional vote in your district, and one extra vote against any sitting Congressperson. That negative vote got included into their total so the entire country could override a districts vote. The numbers would have to be looked at, but the idea was that everyone else in the country could vote out your corrupt Congressman no matter how much support they had at home.

/not fully thought out, full of downsides and basically against the idea of federalism.

Weaver95: what's the point of having an ethics committee anyways? I don't think it can do anything other than give you a slap on the wrist. and they that rarely enough in the first place.

FTFA: The Ethics Committee will also recommend changes to House nepotism rules to bar lawmakers from hiring their grandchildren. Moore is Waters's grandson.

Now, whether or not the House will actually act on the recommendation is anyone's guess--it's kind of like how the FAA and NTSB can recommend changes in airplanes to make them safer--but it's interesting it took THIS to get them to act.

If you're a lawmaker and want your grandkid to work in the business--and there's nothing wrong with that--then ask one of your fellow Congressmembers to hire him. There, easy fix, problem solved.

It is all over civil service as well. Especially at Fort Knox.
Never seen such a wretched hive of arse-kissing jerks.

Voters in her district would rather have a coprrupt rep who has seniority to funnel their way than a clean rep with no seniority.

We need a better system for going after these scumbags.
