(Looks to see the interesting way they have given individuality in a way that humanizes all 4 kids.) Oh. Or that.

Good thing they practice gendercide, could you imagine a little girl with a '5' on her head?

2012-09-07 4:00:46 AM
So it's true, they all look alike.

Hahaha my thoughts exactly. Except for the part where you expected better of people.

Oh, and they're Asian, too? Yeah, jeez, I'd probably have had to do the same thing.

They don't make name tags over there?

It's China: they make everything over there.

Hipster Mr. T was shaving numbers in his hair before it was cool.

The way I look at it - with a population of 1.3B vs our mere 300M, you're going to have areas with the population of the USA in the chinese equivalent of Florida, Texas, and such. We only get the weirdest 1% of those stories, so they tend to be real stinkers.

Dunno why, but this is funny.

How about a tiny tattoo in an out of the way but easily checked place? Under the wrist for example.

2012-09-07 7:40:03 AM
They couldn't just dress them differently or give them different normal haircuts ? I'm wondering why they used the western characters instead of chinese numbers. Or they could have shaved their actual names in.

If it's in birth order, I guess the oldest sibling wins again.

\not oldest
\\not bitter...Honestly..

2012-09-07 7:44:14 AM
I would have gone with tattoos personally.

2012-09-07 7:44:45 AM

Umm, I cant tell ANY Chinese people apart. I think they should just keep going with the entire Asian population.

2012-09-07 8:20:42 AM
On another note, it would be funny to take them all to Chuck E Cheese, number them 1,2,3,5 and tell the staff they lost #4.

Tattooed on the back of 'is neck like a Bishop of Leicester.

Number 1? No. I am "L". I do not know where that rapscallion number 1 is. He is the guilty party that you seek.

They aren't identical that is genetically impossible.

2012-09-07 8:43:09 AM
I'd have done it with scars.

No scar = No1
Right cheek = No2
Left cheek = no3
Both cheeks = No4

Permanent identification, and looks good for the ladies (later in life) :D

If it were in the United States, they'd be immediately sent home for their hair being a "distraction to other students" and denied an education until the numbers are shaved off.

titwrench: They aren't identical that is genetically impossible.

Not impossible, but very, very rare.

I've got identical twins and while most people can't tell them apart my wife and I can usually tell them apart from the backs of their heads. Their 5 year old brother can tell them apart, FFS. Any parent can tell their twins apart once they get past the infant stage.

I did suggest circing one and leaving the other one intact to the doctor though. She was not amused.

2012-09-07 9:31:19 AM
Octo-Mom's brood was formed from seperate sperm, thus different genes. Split-em-off identicals are as alike as nature can make 'em. Only the nurturing factor make the differencr between them (one had better plumbing than another)

2012-09-07 10:19:29 AM
I'm actually surprised they weren't numbered 1, 2, 3, 5.  Link

2012-09-07 10:52:26 AM
I have ONE older brother and I still get the combo from relatives getting half of older brothers name with "uh" in the middle followed by my name. Good luck to these folks.

My parents were always able to tell on sight, but my brother and I were able to mess with our dad on the phone until he finally got caller ID. My mom though? I only got her once - I called her on a phone that I knew didn't have caller ID, then quickly asked "Which one am I?" and she thought I was my brother, because typically he's the one to pull those kinds of shenanigans.

Then I felt bad because she was right.

What about bidentical twins, in which twin A looks exactly like twin B, but twin B looks nothing like twin A.

Cut off different ears: left, right, both, none.

/see how easy that was?

Just preparing for the day when as residence of the PRC, they will just be a number and their individuality will be meaningless to the government.

Mirandized: Theropod76: I'm wondering why they used the western characters instead of chinese numbers. Or they could have shaved their actual names in.

I'm calling BS on this story for that reason. If it were real, they would have used Chinese characters instead of Arabic numerals. Also, even Octomom can tell her own apart.

An Arabic four is a lot easier to draw than a Chinese one, especially if the lines are an inch and a half thick and you're drawing it in hair on the top of a child's head.

Modern Chinese mostly use Arabic numerals nowadays. Also:

Or they could have shaved their actual names in.

Chinese characters (numerals or names) would be a lot more work to shave than Arabic numerals.

Flakeloaf: An Arabic four is a lot easier to draw than a Chinese one

Here is a Chinese 'one': 一

My statement above that Arabic numerals are easier only really applies past 'three'. So kid #4 would be more complicated (四), but 1-2-3 would be easy.

The first Chinese joke I learned:

A woman is sending out invitations to a party and her young son wants to help write the addresses. "But you don't know how to write" she says. "Sure I do... here is 1, 2, and three (一, 二, 三)."

So she tells him to write out the address to Mr. Wan (萬, literally "ten thousand"). She checks in on him an hour later and he says "I'm still on |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||"

The Chinese don't use Chinese numbers much anymore. Much easier to use Arabic numbers instead. Chinese characters and numbers are designed to be written with a brush, which is only used for calligraphy nowadays.
