Shh! Here's some rejected Dilberts.

This is a perfect time for Taliban Cartoons.

Call it Talibaloney
2001-11-18 02:40:44 PM
Citizens of Elbonia?
2001-11-18 02:54:04 PM
1) Sure, any cartoon character with a beard is Taliban
2) Hmmm, misunderstood guy talking to anthropomorphic animals and takes abuse from those around him. Reminds me of this comic called Dilbert...
3) Maybe they shelved it cuz it sucks.
4) Maybe they shelved it because Dilbert sucks and they knew they couldn't successfully pawn off a bunch of crap twice

I like Dilbert.
Where's my cheese?
2001-11-18 02:59:27 PM
It got moved...
2001-11-18 03:10:22 PM
That sux. Now the poor Taliban fighters have nothing to put on the desks in their cubicles inside the caves.

**awaiting left-wing rant about how making fun of other cultures isn't nice**

Sucks to see creativity stifled for politics yet again. Gah.
2001-11-18 03:16:22 PM
Um, creativity wasn't stifled. It wasn't creative, he said so himself:
In other words, it 's an engineered comic strip devoid of any artistic integrity whatsoever. I was curious whether I could make that work.

It was an experiment.

Sucks to see curiosity stifled for politics yet again. Gah. (Thx for the correction Cyc66)

"These Dilbert parodies were done by the folks who do Jerkcity and Leisuretown. Originally found at Wow, there's a lot of stuff there. Copied with love. Unaffiliated with UnitedMedia, of course"

not rejected.. just fake...

Wraith: not rejected.. just fake...

I know. I was just trying to link them with the thread theme of "rejected ideas from Scott Adams."

I found Plop to be funnier than Dilbert.
2001-11-18 07:38:53 PM
Heh--I like those Elbonians. Hey--maybe the Taliban sells pieces of rock from the caves where Osama's bunking out...?
2001-11-18 10:14:12 PM
I love Scott Adams. Dogbert is my hero. I liked those comics. My reading comprehension is at third grade level right now. Yay me.

sent email response as requested re like/disliked and got email back saying the polling was running 60-40 in favor. odd, both the poll results and getting what appeared to be a personal email back. if it was auto generated it didn't say so.

Anyone else really miss The Far Side?
2001-11-18 11:53:04 PM
That was a pretty decent strip.
Why are they always walking in water?
2001-11-19 02:19:29 AM
Big frikkin deal...Dilbert sucks and I'd be real surprised if Plop didn't suck, too.

And a lot of folks tell me that the reason Ihate Dilbert is because "you never worked in an office setting." WRONG! I worked for corporate America for about a year and had my fill, but even when I was doing the 9-5 desk job thing, I still never thought Dilbert was funny.

<SARCASM>Now, that Mary Worth is delightful!</SARCASM>

Sweater Girl, I miss the Far Side every day. Truly one of the best comics ever.
2001-11-19 08:50:17 AM
The Dilbert strip is alright, sometimes I get a chuckle from it, but his rejected strip just wasn't funny. It wouldn't have been funny pre-Taliban and it isn't funny post-Taliban.
2001-11-19 09:02:59 AM
I saw the concept strips a week ago. The Taliban thing is a nice excuse for canceling it because it sucked.
2001-11-19 10:53:56 AM
It didn't make me laugh... but then again, most of the crap on the comics page doesn't make me laugh.
