jurisenpai: I would be all for this if Alton Brown wasn't such an anti-gay Bible thumper. Doesn't he hate River Song and Jack Harkness by default then?

I say this without animosity: Issac Newton was an alchemist and a bible-number-code-fanatic who thought the world was ~6000 years old; that doesn't make the Calculus any less useful or significant. Is Mr. Brown the equivalent of Newton? No. Were Newton's views less acceptable in his time than the views you assert Mr. Brown holds? No. Can a person hold obnoxious beliefs, keep them generally private, and lead a civil, productive life? Certainly. If Alton Brown is a gay-hating bible-thumper that's lamentable and when he expresses such views he should be answered firmly, but it doesn't detract from the entertainment or information Good Eats provided.
