This is why I support legislation mandating a breathalyzer ignition interlock for all bulldozers.

Maybe I could do this too - I'm already half drunk and there is construction equipment less than a block away from me that has been making a lot of noise the last couple of weeks.

Do they usually just leave the keys in them? The only question is what do I run over when I drive it....no wait, don't tell me - my hated neighbor's car!

I'll be a Fark headline yet!

i know from certain drunken teenage exploits that they leave the keys in there a lot more often than you'd think. we used to have a factory nearby, and we drove truck cabs around sometimes. my buddy drove a forklift into a swamp.

Let me guess, let me guess, his license was taken away and he thought he didn't need one to drive the bulldozer.

(RTFA)

It doesn't say but I'm guessing that's what happened.

Do you want construction projects to take even longer than they do already? Imagine the labour pool shrinking by 90%

All things considered, Martin Heevmeyer is a personal hero.

He was tired of taking the shiat of people, and did it in such a manner that he ensured no one would be killed.

Oh man! So there is no truth to the finding that drinking beer during lunch break can boost creativity at work. There is wisdom as to why employers do not want their workers smelling like alcohol when reporting to work.

CSB:

When I was a PFC in the army, a bunch of my fellow newly-minted soldiers and I got truly smashed at the enlisted men's club. We were waaaaay to drunk to walk back to the barracks, so we did the safe thing- we stole a steam roller (well, "road roller" actually since it didn't operate on steam power) that had been parked a couple hundred yards down the road. We didn't need keys because that type of Army vehicle didn't turn on with a key. It just had an "engine start" button. The steering wheel was locked by looping a chain looped through it and welded to the floor. Except they had just looped the chain around the steering column.

So one of us (wasn't me) fired it up and we all climbed on board and rode it to the barracks. We parked it right in the middle of the quad and tore off like bats out of hell when the staff duty NCO came running out of battalion HQ.

A half hour later, the battalion command sergeant major showed up and called the entire battalion out of bed and stood us there in our skivvies. Then he made the entire battalion do pushups, situps, run-in-place, etc. and said he'd make us KEEP doing it until the person or persons responsible stepped forward or somebody died- and he didn't give a damn which came first. It took about an hour and a half for him to get bored and/or disgusted, but none of us cracked and nobody ratted us out. If the CSM had been smart, he'd have figured out who did it by accusing the guys with the most alcohol-smelling puke. Because we all puked.

I went back to that Army base four years later, and you could still clearly see the mile-long indentation in the asphalt right down the middle of the road. To this day, I am still amazed that we didn't get caught. And thankful that no drunk soldier fell off and got flattened.

Thus endeth the CSB.

If you get more than one DUI ever, you're an idiot and you have a serious alcohol problem.

The first one should just alert you to the fact that social drinking and driving is a myth. Two drinks as served by most establishments puts most people easily over the legal limit. After you've had your entire life smashed into the ground and most of your money sucked out of your wallet, if you ever drink anything at all and drive again, you're not that smart.
