I remember reading about Bob Costas comparing Racewalking to seeing who can whisper the loudest. He caught hell for it, but that description seems pretty accurate to me.

They runwalk very fast. Its in the area of 4-5 minutes per km. I've ran a couple half marathons in under 2 hours which is around 5 minutes per km and I could not imagine doing that for 50km.

I now have a new definition for being the lamest of the lame. So lame you have to dope to be competitive at walking.
