Sure, they're on it when someone's Lexus gets stolen. Good luck if you call in about your '72 Bug.

I love watching cops from two different jurisdictions argue about procedure. For those playing at home, sheriff's deputies and actual city cops generally handle situations like that very differently. There's a reason why the show COPS always seems to show county deputies; those guys are super quick to over-escalate mundane situations, making for great entertainment.

Triumph: SirDigbyChickenCaesar: I would need to know an outsiders definition of militarize.

I was thinking more of how things like the G8 Summit or the RNC and DNC conventions are dealt with these days. They set up small "free speech" zones, big "holding areas" for mass arrests and the police gear is getting very stormtrooperish. You mentioned the Constitution - can we really limit free speech assembley to zones?

You ares till free to say whatever you want. If you want to disrupt traffic, blast your message, etc you can't do it wherever you want.

Looks like cops doing their job properly... car was reported stolen, they don't know who is driving or if they are armed.....

StoPPeRmobile: Oh yeah, it's bearing FALSE witness.

No, it was about the fact the Jews were seeking to kill Him.
Read the whole chapter, and attempt to read things in context. Context is important.
"Jesus at the Feast of Booths

7 After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews[a] were seeking to kill him. 2 Now the Jews' Feast of Booths was at hand. 3 So his brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. 4 For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world." 5 For not even his brothers believed in him. 6 Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always here. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil. 8 You go up to the feast. I am not[c] going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come." 9 After saying this, he remained in Galilee."

When they said to 'Turn to your left till I say stop", I would have turned to my right, just to freak them the fark out.

Not a cop, but I bet, whatever the original reason for the stop, the driver continued driving for a while.

well - it was a woman driver - how was she supposed to know he was back there until he turned on his sirens?

well that procedure hasn't changed. i was arrested in los angeles in exactly that manner 25 years ago. could have been the exact same script (and the number of units, and the drawn guns, and the helicopter).

in the end, we were released and not charged as it was all a misunderstanding. they were very professional.

and yes, i am white, thanks for asking.
