(Telegraph)   If you have your middle school students write mock 'suicide notes' as a creative writing exercise, make sure you tell the students to inform their parents it isn't real. Some parents may react badly otherwise   ( divider line

Heaven forbid a teacher challenges a student to think out of the box ("imagine you are someone else.") Would it have been better to assign them to "write a mock suicide note for the day when you realize your Masters degree won't get you a decent job after all?"

I kept journals (composition books) forever when I was a kid; loved writing down lyrics to some of my favorite songs... The parents find the notebook, freak out after reading my Written.Down.Lyrics. to Metallica's Dyer's Eve... ended up seeing a shrink for a bit after that. What really gets me is that the written down lyrics for Dyre's Eve was written one page AFTER Corpse's "Tomb of the Mutilated"...

Really Guys? Really?! Let's not worry about our 11 year old daughter writting about cutting a woman from her neck down to her anus... lets focus on the next page that starts off with "dear mother dear father", 'cause that one make more sense to us... I mean, Lookit! It mentions US!!!'
