Too bad they weren't Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons; they'd have been thrown out of the country long ago (their bicycles confiscated and crushed under a wall).
2001-11-14 08:27:49 PM
I want a ride in a Blackhawk, too! Come capture me!
2001-11-14 08:29:41 PM
Well, this is a good day. I didn't even realise these guys had been held until I read about their transfer when Kabul fell. Glad to know things worked out well.

I wonder what those other "entities" were? I bet someone got to see the wrath of US SpecOps in a very personal sense.
2001-11-14 08:30:26 PM
Goku, exactly what I was thinking! So instead I will say, "HOT DAMN!"
2001-11-14 08:36:46 PM
"The prayer has really brought her into this situation (the release), and got her out of the hands and clutches of the Taliban, those evil people over there."

Yes, their christians beliefs definitely got them into this situation. Ehh, out. No... in. Nevermind.

2001-11-14 08:37:40 PM
also, w00t!
2001-11-14 08:37:49 PM
Hm. Could the Taliban given them a going away present to bring back? Perhaps smallpox?
2001-11-14 08:39:35 PM
"Miss, could you please stop that incessant ticking noi-"

Headline- 'Helicopter goes down in flames'
2001-11-14 08:39:47 PM
Wow! Finally some unequivocally good news!
2001-11-14 08:43:50 PM
Yeah, that group could take down every morning talkshow if they were infected with a disease.
2001-11-14 08:44:06 PM
May have been seeing some wrath, may have been some people going for that "Get Out Of Wrath Free" card.
2001-11-14 08:49:38 PM
"There has been no word on the fate of 16 Afghan Muslims who worked for the aid agency and were arrested at the same time...."

that bit is not so happy
2001-11-14 08:50:31 PM
It's probably just a group of Talaban soldiers in disguise who figured this was the only way to get out of the country.
2001-11-14 08:51:17 PM
Funny thing is that the son of Mohmar Khaddafi orchestrated the release of them.
2001-11-14 08:58:39 PM
Yes, their christians beliefs definitely got them into this situation. Ehh, out. No... in. Nevermind.

Those pesky christians. Getting into all that trouble. Oh wait thats right it was christians who fought for the freedom of slaves all over the world includeing those in this country. Oh well that will teach them!
2001-11-14 09:00:34 PM
True Bijou.
And let's not forget there is a husband/wife couple that has been held hostage by Islamic militants in the Philippines since May. The group holding them, Abu Sayyaf, has been particularly barbaric, recently killing 18 hostages including 1 American.
2001-11-14 09:01:31 PM
THANKYOU BLACK JESUS! for delivering our beloved aid workers to us.

With Karate, I'll kick your ass!
2001-11-14 09:10:06 PM
Where in Kentucky do they sell black Jesus Action figures?
2001-11-14 09:19:00 PM

I thought it was quite humouroues that CNN felt the need to clarify what the guy who make the statement meant to say. Especially since it could be said that the missionaries got themselves into the trouble in the first place.

I think you'll find that roughly the same proportion of people keeping slaves and fighting slavery were christians, so I'm not really sure what your point is.

AFAIK, the bible says quite a few things about the specifics of keeping slaves, but I don't think it labels it as wrong in any way.
2001-11-14 09:21:09 PM
I am very pleased and thankful to see these people rescued, but the question still remains, Why were they in Taliban controlled Afghanistan as missionaries? Did they expect not to be caught? As far as I concerned it was pretty boneheaded to go in their with the intention of converting some of these people. It makes me kind of mad that because of their moronic actions, the lives of some of our servicemen were possibly compromised on this supposed rescue mission.

"Rock!" ?? Sounds like the submitter is a fan of
Sifl & Olly...
2001-11-14 09:34:40 PM
Im sorry, but if we keep saving aid workers, the terrorists may have already won
2001-11-14 09:41:18 PM
Can't wait for Goatman to spin this one....
2001-11-14 09:41:37 PM
If people don't stop making fun of stupid people, the terrorists have already won
2001-11-14 09:41:45 PM
Yes, all those Christians, peskily trying to convert Muslims who may hate Americans for their western ideas and be willing to blow themselves up for a chance to kill a few of them, into a new religion which is less worried about religious domination and more about peace.
2001-11-14 09:42:46 PM
I don't think they were there as missionaries, they were working for a christian aid organization doing humanitarian work. The Tallybans accused them of preaching christianity and arrested them but they denied it. But you know how those damn christians lie.
2001-11-14 09:47:59 PM
They even arrested agnostics for not preaching anything.
2001-11-14 09:50:34 PM
the terrorists have already won? all our base are belong to them?

or is this an ed mcmahon of the tallyban reference?

(drew? can that be a photoshop? just a general -"Photoshop Ed McMahon of the tallyban - you may have already won!- just submit ANY picture referencing ed mcmahon of the tallyban" (can ya tell I like that rhyme?) I mean, I submit and I submit and I get refuted and rebuffed (like I was buff once and and am now rebuffed - yeah right - once a fatty always a fatty) - but yeah drew...hunh?

(shiat, I gotta sober up before morning or its gonna be one ugly thursday)
2001-11-14 09:58:32 PM
If I don't say this.......the terrorists will have already won. Personally, I think these aid workers deserved to be booted out of the country. I don't agree with them being held captive though. People like them are people I hate the most. Forcing their religion on other people. It's as bad as those morons who walk door to door handing out those booklets. I made the mistake of answering the door one time and sat there and listened to their speil. As soon as I shut the door, I tossed their damn booklet in the trash. If those farkin idiots come to my door now, I just sit there at my computer in full view of them.
2001-11-14 10:04:18 PM

oh gawd...there seems to be ALOT of black jesus stuff in the world...I've led such a sheltered fat white guy life. Kinda like a marshamallow held away from the cocoa. (gotta go -that reference scared me alot and I dont like it when I scare myself)(they may have already won)
2001-11-14 10:06:36 PM
"terrorists win"? thats ok, i got enough $ to AWP 'em
in the next round.
2001-11-14 10:08:38 PM
thank god they were rescued, now we can throw them to the lions like we used to do in the good ol' days
2001-11-14 10:17:31 PM
MediaMadeMeKill: Bull. Plain and simple. Quit rewriting history. Just as many Christians owned slaves and those that didn't, and just as many Christians justified slavery with the Bible as demonized it with the same book. The slave traders were Christian, The plantation owners were Christian, Jefferson Davis was Christian, and so was, and is, the staggering majority of Southern good ol' boys who seceeded from the union in the first place because they couldn't cotton (HA HA HA) to the idea of giving up free labor. Nice try, kiddo, but Christ and his little fan club are a feature attraction in the story of worldwide slavery.

2001-11-14 10:22:37 PM
Poor, desperate people will probably act in similar ways, whether they're muslims or christians. This can be seen in a lot of countries in Africa, if anyone cares.

I think it's a little bit naive to think that converting people will do any good.

But forget about that, muslims are evil, and there's a war on. Let's not think too much.

***shxsxh** HOSTAGE HAS BEEN RESCUED ***xsxhsh**
2001-11-14 11:05:47 PM
It seems to me that you think that because a whole farkload of people have taken the Bible's contents out of context and used it for their own purposes, that means everyone else who reads the Bible and is Christian is just as wrong as them. You're basically making the same mistake many Americans made as far as the generalization of Muslims. That being that because bin Laden is some psycho using his religion as a means to his own end, all Muslims are equally evil. What you know of Christianity must have come from what you saw of David Koresh.
2001-11-14 11:17:34 PM

Spike listed some well-known historical facts, and didn't make any negative comments about modernday christians.

Actually, I got the impression from your sarcastic post, that you actually think the people in Afghanistan would be better off with a little christianity. But I was wrong I guess, because that would make you one of these generalizing sillypussies, wouldn't it?

Bad place to see a special forces helicopter.
2001-11-14 11:28:00 PM
USSOCOM (US Special Forces Command) does not fly AH-64A/D Apaches.
2001-11-14 11:31:35 PM
What's the "O" for in USSOCOM? I just thought it was a good pic, I don't know who gets to play with which toys. Sorry.
2001-11-14 11:34:31 PM
dammit vax, could you PLEASE read the "Civilians Guide to What Bunch has what Stuff"...I mean, EVERYBODY knew that the USSOCOM doesnt fly THOSE AH-64A/D Apaches...
2001-11-14 11:36:21 PM
Amazing how this little piece of good news is used by people to further their person agendas. I encounter as much intolerance from non-Christians as I do from Christians.

Geepers, I misplaced my guide...I think it's behind the seat with all of those lost french fries and cig butts. I'll have to do more research next time I put up a pic, I didn't realize how educated Farkers were! :)
2001-11-14 11:40:26 PM
Sorry, USSOCOM == US Special Operations Command, my bad.
2001-11-14 11:45:03 PM
Get it right you guys, christians teach christianity, missionaries teach the missionary position, jeez.
