I love Benedict Cumberbatch. Also, the internets have taught me he looks like an otter:

mekki: What I hope for this new series is that the mysteries will be better than Sherlock. To me, that is the weakest thing about the BBC series. Love the characters and the dialog but I can guess the plotline within the first ten minutes. Which takes away the fact that Sherlock is supposed to be a genius. (Really, it never occurs to him that the password to the phone is "Sher" as is "Sherlocked" until the last act? Who didn't guess that the first time they saw the phone?)

(Django raises his hand)

But, I am rather clueless in general, and was distracted by a nekkid Irene

K.B.O. Winston: Max Awesome: This looks awesome.

I'm a huge fan of all things Sherlock, so this is just another quality adaptation of the original source material as far as I'm concerned.

As long as they do their own thing and don't just copy the British series scene-by-scene, I know I'll enjoy it. I'm already intrigued by the possibilities of Lucy Liu as Watson, and by the New York setting.

Did you need to go to a seminar to become this optimistic? Or was it an audiobook?

I don't know... maybe I don't spend enough time on the internet to get all jaded?

Actually, that's not true - I spend way too much time online. I've just never seen a Sherlock adaptation that I didn't like. I actually just got all caught up on the latest BBC version with Cumberbatch & Freeman in the past month by watching them through iTunes, and I adored it, so maybe I'm still flying high on my enthusiasm for a new favourite series.

But I've also just discovered the American version of Shameless, and its another fantastic show I've called in love with, and it wasn't screwed up at all according to many who saw the original British version, so there's hope for American adaptations.

Plus, I'm a fan of the lead actors in this new American Sherlock, so that helps. Plus New York is such a beautiful city and I never get to see in any of the shows I currently follow.

But then I suppose it's possible I'm a bit of a dullard and just have really low standards. Who can say?

Anyway, I'll give it a shot. It actually doesn't look too terrible to me. As others noted earlier, some episodes of 'Sherlock' misfired (looking at you, 'Hound'), and I'm not really a fan of what they did with Moriarty. I actually MUCH preferred Jared Harris' Moriarty from the RDJ film - the cold, calculating, professorial Moriarty.

The Moriarty from 'Sherlock' was a 'light' version of The Dark Knight's Joker. Nutty anarchist with a flair for the dramatic, etc. In fact, the resolution was the same, too - Sherlock had to trash his public image and 'die', just as Batman took the heat for offing Harvey Dent...

Only The Dark Knight did it better.

KatjaMouse: Let's see, cast Lucy Liu in the role of Watson, air it on CBS, they'll be lovers or have a sexual tension by the end of season 1. Once you take away the platonic relationship Holmes and Watson simply don't work.

I appreciate the sentiment, but you're wrong.
