Uhm, you're proud of a 6.8 rating on Cnet?

2003-11-04 9:55:20 AM
Why is this amusing?

Take a look at the tag Yeeboo. IMO, this is a troll thread just waiting to happen.

"Oh look, I'm standing in a pool of gasoline. Time to have a smoke!"

I am a Mac user, but it will be a cold day in hell before I buy that useless piece of shiat.

2003-11-04 9:55:48 AM
still prefer it over xp. and no it's not a $100 upgrade to fix a security flaw!geez at least research it first people. that all said i havent upgraded becuse i can still use everything and the new features aren't that important to me.

2003-11-04 9:55:54 AM
If Spike sues like he did Spike TV, my chromosome is going to sue Mac...

2003-11-04 9:55:58 AM
hey, an off-topic question--how do i change my user name?

2003-11-04 9:56:21 AM
I'm Mac & proud... Haven't switched to OSX yet, as 9.2 is stable enough for everything I do. I think we all can agree that there are flaws with every OS, though, and system upgrades are often problematic... For the graphics work I do, the Mac is a perfect fit.

2003-11-04 9:56:36 AM
But what about us that are smart enough to use Mac, Linux, and Windows?

I'll flame from all sides.

Psh. Everyone knows that OS/2 is where it's at.

2003-11-04 9:57:09 AM
Nah, we purchased a $100 upgrade to add speed, features and *cough* reliability. (oh, and it's only $100 if you don't have some relative that's a student, students/parents of students get it for $70).

Hmmm...big sums for features/speed/reliability bumps...wait, didn't I Just do that for Windows XP? argggg

I still don't see what's so wrong with DOS... I love it!

I upgraded my 15" Powerbook from 10.2 to 10.3 with no problems at all. In fact everything has been better. Tonight I will upgrade my wife's iBook.

Another Mac/Linux/Mozilla circle jerk. Meh...

2003-11-04 9:59:26 AM
it's amusing because the box is EXACTLY the same as the logo for the malcom x movie.

I'll stick with DosShell, thank you.

You actually have to pay to upgrade the OS? Fark that. Even MS lets you download updates for free.

WTF?

2003-11-04 10:00:55 AM
Cool, a new version of somebody else's OS.

Ahhhhhh, now I get it. Mac and I'm proud, black and I'm proud.

That's kind of scary, actually.

You probably don't even need a relative MorphOSX, just wait for a computer show. I picked up the latest FrontPage (don't ask why) from a comp show for the discounted education price, even though I'm not in college.

Ahhh, I love computer shows :D

Updates are free but version upgrades are not. Same for Windows and Mac.

2003-11-04 10:02:49 AM
If you use a Mac and aren't involved in some sort of graphics/video related field, you're a farking idiot.

2003-11-04 10:03:01 AM
"You actually have to pay to upgrade the OS? Fark that. Even MS lets you download updates for free."

An Apple "update" is equivalent to a major OS release for Windows. Think of it that way.

2003-11-04 10:03:04 AM
as a matter of fact, let me continue to elaborate. you see, there is a well known black pride/protest chant that goes "say it loud, i'm BLACK and i'm proud." now, the fact that the box is the same as the malcom x logo coupled with the clever switching of the word "black" for the word "mac" makes this amusing.

humor class dimissed. now stufu about your freakin' systems.

Reason number 947 not to buy a Macintosh.

2003-11-04 10:04:21 AM
sorry mrstench, it wasn't directed solely at you. :)

2003-11-04 10:04:39 AM
hmm. always makes me wonder why Mac hasnt shriveled up into a silicon raisin and died.

oh yea. if they go out, then there's no compition for winblows.
so as long as Bill has his monopoly, mac's are here to stay.

you dont even have to buy them.

That's like saying if you use windows and don't just play games and chat you're an idiot. Or if you run Linux and don't just run a server you're and idiot.

Mac's are often in music studios.

I am a Web devleoper and unix server admin. Mac being Unix based works rather well for what I do and has the other tools I need. It's a portable Unix machine with a great interface and software.

garrett_m

Are you saying that the government will eventually subsidize Mac when people "don't even have to buy them"? Because simple economics will tell you that if people stop buying the products, the company goes away...

2003-11-04 10:09:15 AM
Why anyone would waste their time on a Mac is beyond me. What a lame computer.

2003-11-04 10:10:08 AM
kitchen wench Thanks. Any opinions on whether the name "Big Ass Fan Company" is humorous?

Ok, I have seriously been thinking about getting an i-book...any Farkers have suggestions on what the best deal is?

HeatMiser:

Only reason MS has updates is to sorta kinda maybe fix a security flaw.

Mac updates add speed and features.

2003-11-04 10:10:40 AM
Hmmm, the box is black and the OS is called Panther?

2003-11-04 10:11:27 AM
AND it's called panther as in BLACK Panther.

Psh. Everyone knows that OS/2 is where it's at.

Man, one of these days I need to get a copy of OS/2 and throw it on a P4-2Ghz...

Great OS, too bad IBM let it languish and die.

Okay, so Apple releases three major OS releases in three years? And people say that Microsoft doing it every 2.5-3 years is bad...

Still better than Linux distros every other week I suppose.

Proud owner of a new iMac here.
Why a mac? No, not in graphics field (sorry pOOpdOOd).
It fits on our table better b/c of it's compact CPU. It looks better than a PC, as well. Oh, and it's more fun to use.

So how do ya like them apples? Heh...apples.

A little anti-flame:

my brother needed a new laptop.. he looked around, and even though he's not a nut or antything, the G4 Ibook was the most bang for the buck.. He has full MS office, it works with Exchange server, and he doesn't have to worry so much about getting the latest 'Iloveyou' worm... Not that I'm trying to create a flame war-- XP is fine for me.. but the mac is a pretty good value proposition these days, especially for laptop buyers.-

I'll stick with my XP Professional, thank you very much...Nice box though....maybe i'll just buy the box on e-bay or something

Hey Mr. Stentch, if you're so confused as to what's funny about this; go out, rent Malcolm X, sit down for 3 and a half hours, and culture yourself more than you've ever bothered to do.
