badgerb: wildcardjack: I've seen landings with that beach, but I haven't seen a takeoff next to that beach.

That was not a Learjet... Any idea how large that aircraft was?

You will get the aviation crowd in here.
I hate the smell of narcissists in the morning.

Of course, it was a Lockheed Martin 767 with McDonnell-Hamburger engines; you can tell by the dual flanges on the engine trupots and the flat tone of the backwash as it passes through the C-degree median. I remember once when I was flying my X-39J with a central-line pattern formation and received an uplink loadcall from a B-67 Lockheed with a perforated blowout flange; the idiots at ATC mistook it for a secondary trimester and sent out a DD23 from LAX to PDQ before the weather cleared. HA HA HA HA HA HA! Good times.

I'm going to open a tourist package agency for stupid rich people.

We drag you down to some humid island and plant your ass behind a jet plane at full throttle 40' away. After you recover, you get to run around in your underpants and drink 16.00 mai tais and then we whisk you off to Nello for a tasty 600.00 lunch.

The whole thing ends in a dangerous sidewalk casino in Albania where eastern bloc mafiosi steal your luggage and iPads and aggressively try and date you wife.

I figure I can sell the whole clusterf*ck for 500k and throw in a T-shirt and a refrigerator magnet and still clear 300k after plane fare, kickbacks and insurance waiver fees.

Mambo Bananapatch: On one hand, it is stupid that there isn't some type of barrier so people can't get that close to commercial aircraft engines.

On the other, it is stupid that there should have to be.

Evidently, some people are so stupid that they need to be physically prevented from standing directly behind a commercial aircraft taking off. Enough people that they felt it necessary to put up signage warning people of imminent injury or death. Perhaps they thought, "Nobody is too stupid to stand right here. Still, on the outside chance that there are even a few people that stupid, we ought to put up some signs."

Aaah! Stupidity everywhere! Help!

This. I always find it refreshing to leave the country and visit places that don't feel compelled to protect the average idiot on the street from hurting themself in every way imaginable. It's almost like... expecting people to be responsible for their actions? Fark the people who would have every path in Yosemite lined on both sides with 8' unscalable security fences, so that they don't accidentally climb over a lower guardrail and tumble over Yosemite falls because they were too busy posing for their friend's camera phone. My 14-month-old shows more self-preservation than these vacuous genetic rejects. It's appalling that they're able to file lawsuits. This is why we can't have nice things.

Nem Wan: largedon: Wish I could watch it but no video available on the iPhone. Really can't wait to get rid of this thing.

The iPhone's popularity killed further development of mobile Flash, so eventually all mobile devices will stop playing Flash and websites will have to change their videos to a different format. It's already idiotic for any site to be incompatible with iPhones and iPads.

Oh god no, You know how bad QuickTime or any apple software runs on anything not made by apple? And the phone thing depends on the country, nobody is buying IPhones here anymore, they cost more, are slower and don't work as a phone as well as HTC, Samsung or Motorola phones, give it a couple years and apple will lose their lead.

That's easy for you to say.

Leaves a nice big welt... seems to only happen when I'm tailing the F1 in front of me and the ground effect is kicking crap up off the track into the cockpit. We call them, 'Speed Hickies'.

Animatronik: They need to put up a blast wall to make the airport more idiot-proof.

They need to take down the fence so the idiots can get closer.

Even if you don't get injuries from falling over, having one unlucky piece of gravel hit you in the right spot doing a couple hundred miles an hour could kill you. Even more likely would be losing an eye or a pretty scarring injury.

Freaking morons

I'd blow her off her feet with a blast from my jet wash, if you know what I mean.

Ed Finnerty: FTFA: The woman appears to have ignored signs on the beach warning that jet blasts from the planes can cause injury or even death.

If only there were slightly larger signs directing one's attention to the other signs. All of this could have been avoided.
