On one of the hikes, we approached a wood pile near the maple syrup boiling shed, and he went bounding off after a chipmunk which he caught in about 20 seconds of effort. Not the first time, not the last. Many cats don't care to hunt since they've swindled us into feeding them regularly, but mine? Mine can, will, and enjoys the hunt. He's nearly eight now and still attacks things like a kitten. I only wish he could get the rodents out of the walls, but he did grab two from the basement before they wised up.

I used to have a cat that could catch anything.

She's, sadly, gone now.

These new generations are barely able to scare a robin out of the yard.
