I'm glad to see that 2008 Obama is starting to show himself again.

The truth is that he has been guilty of appeasement... not towards Islamic terrorists, but towards Republican ones..

"The president, for every thug and hooligan, for every radical Islamist, has had nothing but appeasement," former Sen. Rick Santorum said.

"The Obama administration has confused engagement with appeasement," Rep. Michele Bachmann said.

"President Obama has adopted an appeasement strategy," Mitt Romney charged.

Newt Gingrich said it was the State Department that "has consistently engaged in appeasement."

One thing that must be considered when choosing who you want your next leader to be is whether he or she can think for himself (or herself). When you hear the same talking point repeated ad nauseum you have to wonder if they can do that. And if not, what consequence would it have for America where that person to become President.

And for those who will inevitably come in, probably before I finish typing this, that Obama didn't "kill" bin Laden, no he wasn't airdropped into Pakistan and didn't personally put two into bin Laden's brain pan.

He did however, make bin Laden a priority after our previous President said that he didn't give a shiat about bin Laden. Obama waited to absorb and confirm intelligence for almost a year before sending out hit team instead of destroying two countries to no avail. So yeah, spin this however you like, Republicans.

I doubt it. There isn't much the right can say on this without looking foolish.

It will, however, be interesting watching his GOP opponents trying to spin him as weak on foreign policy. They won't want to, because they know how hard that hill will be to climb. Not one of them can claim anything close to his record killing terrorists. But they have no choice but to try.

It will be lulzworthy.

Indeed. Any serious-minded person can assemble a list of domestic policy decisions that would have/could have/should have been different, and blame Obama for these and call them failings. I don't necessarily agree, but whatever. A compelling argument could be made.

But this? Foreign policy? From the speech in Cairo to actively hunting al Qaeda, Obama's foreign policy has been some of the best we could hope for from a mortal human. They won't win from this angle.

Never in living memory has a Nobel Peace Prize recipient gone on to cause
more death and more misery than President Barack Obama,
who now also puts out "hits" on citizens of the United States of America.
All of his foreign policy "successes", as rated by his *supporters*, all involve assassinations - he is

I'm sure the 5000+ Americans and thousands of Iraqi civilians who got killed in Bush's phony war over WMDs that were not there would disagree with you.

i don't think anyone has accused obama of appeasing osama bin laden though. it appears they are all directed at his policies related to iran and more broadly his weird obsession with collecting nazi memorabilia.

Oh no. I fully expect the argument to be made that a) killing Bin Laden was wrong morally, b) he should have had a trial, c) he was executed (assassinated is a popular alternative) d) we were wrong to violate Pakistan's sovereignty and the most likely and commonly used pay lip service to Bin Laden, and make up a ton of shiat about how Obama is weak.
The real lols will come from how hard they will argue that it was wrong to kill Bin Laden.

Compared to the administration who suddenly decided bin Laden didn't matter and wanted to get Americans killed in Iraq to settle some personal vendetta, yes.

well, he can't get any quality clothing manufacturers to agree to produce nazi uniforms, so he needs to collect as many of the originals as possible before he "wins" re-election, declares himself president for all time, and marches his army of nazis upon all the red state capitals.

about that... they seriously sound like they want war with Iran. I can't decide if that position is more stupid or more dangerous because both are dialed up to 11.l

then you should just keep on appeasing and hope that your appeasement appeases the aggressors as they aggress.

Can you name the top five successes of Obama foreign policy?

Gitmo is still open

Afghanistan is escalating

We will pull out of Iraq, but not in the time frame he promised as a candidate.

Removing Khadafy and installing Al Queda is good for the US?

BP still has not cleaned up the Gulf of Mexico.
