I really hope this overly aggressive marketing ends up biting them in the arse. I don't wish hard economic times on most people, but if retailers don't end up in the black this holiday season, I will not shed a tear.

The lesson they'll learn though is not that maybe shoppers are tiring of Christmas being rolled out for them in October, it'll be that they need to roll out Christmas even earlier.

My local *Mart started playing Christmas music day after Halloween. Found myself starting to hum with it. Then I hated myself for a while.

The wal mart near me has already turned their garden center into the Xmas area. I noticed this when we went there to get candy about a week BEFORE halloween. Who knows how long it was there before I got there.

/does all Xmas shopping online.

Corporations just want you to be in the Christmas spirit. They're not trying to sell you anything. Christmas is about sharing gifts. Not selling them. The only people who could get the impression that Christmas has been commercialized are probably socialists. Here's a Christmas gift idea: How about you stop being poor and get a job.

Oh, this is perfect! I usually put in the cards in the mail on christmas day just out of spite of all my acquaintances, frenemies and enemies on my list! I don't have to wait anymore for the cards :D

F*ck Christmas. There, I said it.

The mind of the Marketer.

People no longer listening: talk louder.

People ignoring you talking louder: wave you hands in front of their face, too.

People now covering eyes and ears: kick them in the shin and when they grab their leg, yell at them.

I swear these people are missing the part of the brain that tells them some folks want to be left alone.

And I get the oddest looks when I say I hate Christmas because it's shuved down your throat so much.

Went into my local WalMart yesterday to buy a couple of items on the cheap and sure enough, freaking Christmas candles displays were already out in full force.

McDonald's recently started selling their peppermint flavored coffees and the like before it was even Halloween.

As someone mentioned above, I really hope this comes back and bites them in the ass. It's absolutely ridiculous to have Christmas stuff out THIS early. At this rate, it'll turn into a year-round holiday in just a few more years.

I've been saying it for years. Never thought it possible to *hate* a holiday, but I do. I fracking HATE Christmas. I hate the notion that you show people how much you love them by going into debt for them. Screw that.

It's no longer "Christmas creep", it's become an outright trample.
I look forward to seeing the Christmas lights come out right after July 4th in about 2 years or so.

Some other totalfarker mentioned on HALLOWEEN day he went to the store to buy Halloween candy and the shelves were being stocked with Christmas candy. He inquired if the Halloween stock sold out and the guy told him it was packaged up and sent back to the supplier already.

ON HALLOWEEN DAY.

My local Home Depot had their trees on display in late September, right about the time I needed to replace my patio table, no outdoor furniture to be found and September and October are the best months to be outside in Georgia.

I can't stand humbuggery before December 1, and don't really like it then either.

That's bullshiat. Everyone knows Nov. 1st is the best day of the year to pick up cheap candy.

When I was walking home last Friday I came to a dead stop and muttered "oh, FFS" when noticed that the window of an apartment in the building next to mine was ablaze with Christmas lights.

I thought it would be amusing to create an amalgam of Christmas and Mammon.

Oh! I should buy one of those cards and send it NOW, thataway, when the recipient gets the cards, their reaction would be similar to this,
Bob: "Hey Martha! look at this!"
Martha: "WTF, how much more belated can you get?!"

2011-11-03 10:48:16 AM
You guys are all silly.

It's pretty obvious that those cards are meant for last Christmas. If you didn't send a card last year, you can send one now apologizing for being 11 months late.

There's only one thing I do in October that is related to Christmas, and that is make the mincemeat for the Christmas mince pies. Anything else is borderline blasphemous.

I was greeted by a Christmas tree at Wal-Mart on November 1st. I've been sick of this shiat for as long as I can remember. I miss when they'd wait until the day after Thanksgiving. The economy sucks, there's protesting going on...yes, let's make the Christmas season more depressing by stretching it out another month.

my favorite little K-Mart around the corner set up their Christmas forest of decorated and lighted artificial Christmas trees, complete with fake snow on the ground, about three weeks ago.

Really. The second week of October.

The next aisle had Halloween costumes, and the one after that had discounted pool toys and coolers and lawn chairs.

Really.

Oh, the 'post christmas' and 'post Halloween' sales are actually now before. My girlfriend picked up a ton of Peanuts Halloween decorations at Menards on Oct 28. I say we give it enough time and they'll just reset the cycle. Christmas decorations for Christmas 2021 will be up Dec 1 2020.

Oh, mine did as well, they just started playing the music. I'm already tired of the chipmunks singing "Christmas Time is Here ".

However, I wouldn't mind another Barenaked Ladies Christmas album.

I love all of you people biatching about the commercialization of Christmas and how it comes earlier and earlier, but all of you are shopping at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is just about the most commercial of commercial stores you can choose and you are amazed that they also push Christmas shopping on you as early has possible.
