I've spent many an hour in Baltimore's finer saloons, wondering who carved the tap.

That should have gotten a hero tag. Without him I might order Budweiser by mistake.

How do u add pics on here?

... and then another request from his wife propted him to carve another of Joe Theissman's "appendiges"

GIS for "Joe Theisman Leg"

this has nothing to do with the topic (and I'm sorry for that, I just need a tech question answered that I can't find from anyone else)

Does Palm have an 800 number that is for Tech Support? I think I broke my palm pilot.

thank you and I'm sorry for the off-topic post.

The only things broken next week are gonna be Eagles.

AS far as I know, it's illegal to use a keg pull
that doesn't show what beer is in the keg. I.E., IPA must have an IPA keg pull. At least here in Toronto. (Insert Canada joke here.) (Please.)

I still shudder when I replay Theisman's "snap" in my head.....
2003-09-30 6:37:58 PM
It would have been even more cool if the keg pull would have been crafted out of Theisman's broken leg instead of just a replica. I remember seeing that live and later hearing the story of how LT screamed when he heard the snap.

baltimore represent. word.

I think this guy is my new hero.

Theisman beer tap, good giggle. No sympathy for him after I heard he fed-ex'd Kathy Lee Crosby for a divorce.

That was so sick to watch.
2003-09-30 6:44:49 PM
can someone post a pic of theisman's leg snapping?
2003-09-30 7:20:24 PM
If it loads, this is the only pic I could find. This is just before LT puts his full weight on Joes back with the resulting SNAP heard around the world.

Go figure.....

Anyone remember David Letterman's "Joe Theisman Pencil Sharpener"? He was doing a segment on Christmas gift ideas.

It was an old hand-operated pencil sharpener with a cut-out of Theisman attached to it. The crank on the pencil sharpener was Theisman's leg from the knee down.

I thought it was about the funniest thing I'd ever seen at the time, and it still makes me chuckle just thinking about it.

Joe Theismann and the ESPN Sunday Night Football crew are the most annoying and incompetent of all sports announcers currently employed. Thiesmann would be bad enough on his own, but with Paul Maguire (who is the worst) it's intolerable. Mike Patrick does not help things. His voice hurts my ears.

Worst. Crew. Ever. Worse than Madden, worse that Dennis Miller, these guys are just terrible. They've made games unwatchable for me.

I wish someone would break Theismann's leg again.

Oh man! This brings back memories. Eating my cereal watching CNN headline news when they showed it. I just about puked.
2003-09-30 8:46:21 PM
So uhh . . .do you think he do a replica of my wang? Its well you know, Wang-tastic.
2003-09-30 9:12:43 PM
I presume we're talking about a compund fracture were the entire lower leg below the knee snaps in two. Happened to an english soccer player called David Busst. Took 15 minutes to mop the blood off the pitch and Man Utd goalie needed counselling. Not a nice thing to happen to anyone
2003-09-30 9:18:25 PM
Google search for Joe Theismann's leg. Fifth link down is this article.
2003-09-30 9:22:07 PM
Don't know if it was a compound or not. This was years ago but all three both bones (tibia, fibia and fubula) were broke. I just can't remember if there was any blood which would indicate a compound fracture.
2003-09-30 9:30:12 PM
I don't remember any blood, just the repeated showing of his lower leg being turned into a perfect right angle as it was broken. That image will remain burned into my brain for as long as I live. I seem to remember it being refered to as a compound fracture at the time though. Remember the bone does not actually have to exit the skin for it to be a compound fracture. It can just cause a bulge beneath the skin, and do just as much damage.

While we're all searching for gruesome photos. Why don't we all post the pic of Clint Malarchuk after he got his throat slit by a skate.

I'm just kidding. It's painful to watch and even more painful to experience. Let's direct all of these pice to ogrish or rotten where they belong.

FARK needs none of the "shock" photos or gore.
2003-09-30 9:32:24 PM
pice = pics

That is all. I'm back to full drinking. :)
2003-09-30 9:33:14 PM
Carry on
2003-09-30 9:37:25 PM

What the hell is a fubula? Is that the patella, or the femur? 19 years of Emergency Medicine, and that's a new one to me.
2003-09-30 9:46:15 PM
come on.. insert video of joe's leg flailing away in every direction... come on..
2003-09-30 10:35:15 PM
"the compound fracture, one of football's greatest injuries."
2003-09-30 10:45:41 PM
Anyone know where I can find a picture or video of this leg break. I've always heard about it but never seen it.
2003-09-30 10:59:31 PM
It was gruesome gruesome, it became a catchphrase.........."He had the Joe Theisman break".
2003-09-30 11:07:45 PM
In the midst of trying to find a vid of the Thiesmann leg break I found this.
Kick Boxing Leg Break
Warning Do Not Watch If Squeamish Or On A Full Stomach!!!
2003-09-30 11:13:09 PM
Dammit, GJ...

Why didn't you warn me not to watch that?!? I'm squeamish and on a full stomach!
2003-09-30 11:15:06 PM
Gear Jammer: I've seen that one before. That's pretty bad, another one to see if you like leg breaks is when Sid Vicious jumped of the ropes. His lower leg bone just broke like a match stick.
2003-09-30 11:24:01 PM
Hehehe I'd hate to see your keyboard, and monitor about now then.

Nah, I ain't a big fan of bone breaking vids, 'cause I am a bit squeamish when it comes to such things. I just saw it as a challenge to try to find the nearly 20 year old vid of Thiesmann's leg break on the net. Unfortunately all my search engine resources have drawn a blank. I have seen the Sid Vicious one though, and it was also quite harsh.
2003-09-30 11:29:58 PM
Yeah I hear yeah,GJ. It doesn't really bother me, I've gone through several search engines to find a picture or video of the Theismann leg break and came up empty as well. I've just never seen it before and wanted to see what it was all about. I'd prefer the video because people say the moment the leg broke you could hear it clear as day in the stadium.
2003-09-30 11:52:06 PM
I wasn't at the stadium, but did see it live on TV, and it was very wierd watching it as it unfolded. In the split second his leg broke all activity on the field ceased, LT was freaking out, and everyones gaze fell on Joe T as he layed there with the look of the worst kind of pain any human had ever experienced. The network then proceeded to re-show the play from every possible angle for the next 10 minutes or so until they were able to get Thiesmann off the field.
2003-10-01 12:16:05 AM
tallguy: then of course ESPN hired Rush Limbaugh (since he obviously knows oh so much about football), and he's already gone off on a racist tangent about black quarterbacks.
2003-10-01 12:38:04 AM
When Rush makes comments as racist as those that got Jimmy "the Greek" Snyder fired from CBS 15 years ago (Google it if you don't know the story), then I'll be against his appearing on NFL Countdown.

For now, I'm enjoying watching his huge ego get shot down by Michael Irvin's superior knowledge of the game, a case of poetic justice writ large. Besides, I thought ESPN already had a religious fanatic conservative with a scrambled brain in Steve Young.
