Seele96 - yeah, good thinking, there, Einstein. Hey, let's all get Drew and Co. in legal trouble!
2001-11-03 08:50:23 AM
I tried the google cache. No luck.

The trailer was pretty disapointing. Actually I know it was just a teaser, but still that darth vadar voice over was lame. It was cool at first, but to use it through the whole things was dumb. I did like however how dark the film looked. Kinda like Empire. I think it will be better than Episode 1 however.
2001-11-03 10:24:13 AM
Isn't there the whole "Fair Use" clause allow people to post those images?
2001-11-03 10:29:03 AM
Oh no! The trailer police!
Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do......
2001-11-03 11:09:26 AM
I didnt catch the screen captures, if someone could email them to me deathape666[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamtoh*com , thatd be great, oh yeah and screw you lucasarts
2001-11-03 11:21:42 AM
God damn! People make me sick.
2001-11-03 11:35:02 AM
Brake, Lucasarts is the game company.

I thought it was legal to post things like that after the trailer came out? What's up with that?
2001-11-03 11:50:47 AM
"Snatch Lizard".

2001-11-03 12:12:30 PM
I saw the trailer - looks like a bad copy of Empire.

Which brings me to my next question: is it better to burn out or fade away?
2001-11-03 12:25:43 PM
Burn out...

I didn't even know the teaser trailer was out... but whats the big deal with this dude posting pictures? Isn't that like free advertising for George Lucas?
2001-11-03 12:31:04 PM
I think that I am just not going to watch his stupid film. with all this mega-Mussolini type action on his part. all he can do it sell suspence because when people actually see the movie, it sucks so hard, he can no longer sell it.
2001-11-03 12:33:36 PM
yeah lucasfilm grabbed those images real fast...

... but not fast enough that i didn't get 'em saved to the good ol' hard drive.

go star wars.
2001-11-03 12:34:09 PM
the big deal is that attaching the AOTC teaser-trailer to monsters, inc (an exclusive as far as i know) will draw in movie-goers this weekend and hopefully they will stay for the rest of the movie. posting screen-grabs removes the impetus to go out and shell out the ticket cost.

at least it is better than last time. going to see wing commander for the purpose of catching the episode i trailer, that was just painful. at least monsters, inc is inventive and funny.
2001-11-03 12:50:20 PM
I really don't think this is a big movie industry conspiracy as much as Lucas wants to go the anti-advertising route of tease, tease, and more tease.

This type of advertising is pretty inexcusable in the age of information. Instead of releasing it for some, they could have releaded it for all (most) and generated a lot more hype and water-cooler discussion.
2001-11-03 12:53:43 PM
i don't see what the big deal is. we'll all see the trailer eventually. and look at the letter they sent. they didn't threaten legal action or anything. they just said to please take down the images.

On behalf of Lucasfilm I would like to ask everyone to stop talking about this now.

We have all your home addresses and will be serving subpoenas on Monday morning along with a batch of Jar Jar Binks merchandise we've been having difficulties getting rid of.

Consider yourselves served and duly warned, we are not to be trifled with.

PS. See new Attack Of The Clones Trailer after this posting.

PPS. George sends hugs.
2001-11-03 01:36:47 PM
PPPS. Watch out for George in the upcoming DVD release of Beverly Hills Cop 3 as Ferris Wheel Rider #4. He has been digitally remastered and had new CGI footage added.

the digital version of the Nov 2 trailer was released yesterday morning. It IS on the 'net, but where to find it...?

I've downloaded the "fan" trailer about 25,001 times now
2001-11-03 02:26:00 PM
ooOOH maaa gaaaawd.

Christ I hate star wars geeks.

Better hurry and get some jam lube, i hear anakin is quite the hottie in the trailer.
2001-11-03 03:09:38 PM
Hey Someguy, I've found what claims to be the real trailer on winmx... star wars episode 2 trailer.mpeg... around 8.5 mb. The trailers labeled fake were all 13 mb... I'm on 56k, so I won't know if its the real thing for a while...
2001-11-03 03:20:32 PM
farkING NAZI.... but then again the trailer will be online at the special DVD site on the 9th.
2001-11-03 03:21:28 PM
C KIng- I have a fake one that is 8MB......
2001-11-03 03:37:43 PM
Why get hyped over a movie which will disapoint the older followers?
2001-11-03 03:41:03 PM
Well crap in a hat Augie Doggie... yep, it was the fake on alright... should have known, the fink even had it labeled real...
2001-11-03 03:42:20 PM
the fake one sucks...stupid fake.
2001-11-03 04:18:26 PM
Why on earth do those farkin morons make fake vids for Kazaa/WINMX/whatever?!?
It just makes no sense, why do they want their bandwidth raped?

Or are they so demented that they equate loads of downloads as some form of attention?
2001-11-03 04:21:37 PM
My geek quota will be filled by Lord of the Rings and the sequels to the Matrix.
2001-11-03 04:30:57 PM

You can post a portion of a movie if that portion of the movie has been publicly shown as an advertisement. Grade-B directors use this technique all the time to put a movie on TV inside their film without paying royalties.

Again, AFAIK.
2001-11-03 05:34:36 PM
Well, I personally liked this trailer very much. The affect I experienced after all of the hype/downloaded trailers during the ramp up to The Phantom Menace was one that left me feeling like I had already seen the movie. I wasn't surprised at all while seeing the movie for the first time. In fact, it felt as though I was watching all of the trailers again, this time with some linking footage.

This new trailer won't breed that kind of affect. It's subdued enough to leave a great amount to your imagination yet shows enough and plays off of the established Star Wars idealoligies to make you beg for more.

On another note, I'd like to voice my disgust with how popular it has become to speak out against anything that Lucas does now. It's like the same counter-culter, self-righteous, my OS is better than your OS farkers that are whining about us blowing the shiat out the Taliban right now.

Knock your shiat off. Enjoy the experience for what it is - a MOVIE. Do this, or I will beat the ever loving dog shiat out of you.

holy fark! that's my good friend chepo.. he plays bass for 30% of the bands in austin... he's even played in mine! poor chepo. why won't lucas leave him alone?
2001-11-03 06:25:09 PM
I think it's great..! Lucas is just protecting his interest..You all would do the same..
2001-11-03 06:49:18 PM
Actually I just hate Lucas now, how back when he made Star Wars he looked as if he was actually working, now he looks and acts all fat and smug... like he's going to have a heart attack any minute.

I didn't bash episode 1 at all... But I'm not buying this new, hyped up dvd, simply because I don't want 6 hours of phantom menace special features... though in the eyes of some that makes me not a "true" star wars fan...
2001-11-03 07:31:50 PM
I think the trailor makes this movie look better than Ep. 1. Nothing will ever supass the originals as there was nothing to compete with them back then. With today's effects and all it is hard to make a movie that will overwhelm people. I haven't seen any movie in the past many years that even tempts me, most are garbage or remakes of old great movies. Need to unlearn what I have already learned...
2001-11-03 08:04:28 PM
Agreed, O. Star Wars was on the other night (video), and I was still amazed at how well it's stood the test of time. The battle at the end still pulls me in....
2001-11-04 12:31:17 AM
Star Wars should have left us with only Episodes 4, 5, and 6. That way, we would see the story, but know that that isn't where it started.
2001-11-04 06:05:28 AM
or ended.
