Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "Summer Daze"

Description
: Show us your summer pictures.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:

The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. HDR, stitching, or otherwise combining exposures in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Stats can be found here.

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

Kiddie Pool

Older sister set up a small Fisher-Price plastic slide into a small blow-up pool last year for the little one.
I had my camera lens at water level by squishing down the side of the pool.
While my youngest slid into the water, I could get several pics click-click-click before pulling away my camera.
The circle at the right side of this pic is a water droplet on my UV filter.

KUDZU ATTACKS... IN 3D!!!

Summertime in the south means kudzu takes over everything. Single image, taken with a prismatic stereo lens. View it like a "Magic Eye."

Bigr at Flickr

*Tips to help view: With your face about 18 inches from the screen, relax your eyes, as though you were looking at the far end of a football field. You'll start to see the image "separate" itself. It's okay to let your focus slip at this point. Using the angle wood slat by the top of the door as an anchor, continue relaxing your eyes until the images of the two wood slats come together and overlap. Once they are aligned, your brain will be able to "lock in" to the 3D image and focus should restore.

This was tonight in Leesburg, VA. Lightning strikes a tree less than 100 yards away. Surprised the living shiat outta me, considering that all the other bolts were small flashes and flickers a few miles away. Then this one comes outta nowhere with an instant KABANG!!

Nothing like a good late-summer thunderstorm :-)

The first thing we do when we get to the beach is run to put our feet in the water. Well, I don't run. The tot does, though.
