Blow or hand?

2011-08-15 11:33:09 PM
I think Apple already trademarked that

2011-08-15 11:36:05 PM
We don't need another government agency, we need leaders who are committed to making the agencies we have work.

TheOther: Blow or hand?

No, just odd.

2011-08-15 11:54:00 PM
Considering the GOP-led House of Representatives hasn't done one goddamned thing about it, why not.

Mentat: We don't need another government agency, we need leaders who are committed to making the agencies we have work.

Well that's PRECISELY what this agency aims to accomplish.

That will certainly help the deficit! The only jobs it will create will be in the Department of Jobs.

That's what EVERY agency aims to accomplish. And look where it's gotten us

It's an election thing. It looks like he's actually doing something. Why else do you think we have a Department of Homeland Security?

ArkAngel: That's what EVERY agency aims to accomplish. And look where it's gotten us

Perhaps it's time they set up a Force Agencies To Accomplish What They Were Created To Accomplish Agency. We can call it the FATAWTWCTAA. Just give them a bunch of money and no well-defined goals or obligations, and I'm sure everything will work out just fine.

No no no, this is good political maneuvering.

This way, when the Republicans start carrying on about how their platform is jobs, Obama can say "It's right through there. I'm sure you'll start logging at least twelve hours a week as a volunteer there, since you're so worried about jobs."

Or if he sees one scurrying out to meet a lobbyist, he can meet them at the door and say "Oh, you must have gotten turned around. The jobs department is over there." And smile, and smile.

He should also make the location known to the major news outlets so they can station somewhere there and take note of who's going inside.

Wouldn't fly. Look at how close the first part of the acronym looks like "fatwa". The Tea Party will be up in arms and Obama will collapse like a Flan in a cupboard

Well, the Republicans are turning the Department of Labor into the Department of Workforce..

The administration may also merge the Department of Commerce, the Office of the United States Trade Representative and some economic divisions at the State Department into a new agency, administration officials said. Possible names include the Department of Jobs or the Department of Competitiveness.

Department of Deck-Chair Rearranging?

This is the act of a desperate man that is trying to win reelection. Unlike Clinton, 0bama isn't concerned about his "legacy" yet. And when he does turn, it will be funny to watch him squirm.

You could hear a bit of it yesterday as he was campaigning.

Obama sucks because he gives in to the republicans' demands too often.

Let's see, the article is about merging departments to get rid of redundancy. Yep that's a Fark headline alright. Good jorb Subfark.

But see, that is impossible. Only Republicans can shrink government.

I mean, look at who created the DEA, the NRC, the EPA, and the DHS!

This. Department of Labor + Other Agencies = New Department. "Department of Redundancy Department" need not apply.

I'm confident the GOP and Teabaggers will find a way to get their panties in a bunch over this, too...

/terribly so far

One good thing about having a Department of Jobs -- it will create jobs -- if for nothing other than the $100K+ a year bureaucrat positions used to run the damned thing.

And it this case - it's a good thing. Seriously, DHS was created in a panic and after 9+ years it's still a clusterfark. This new department level Frankenstein agency will suffer from the same turf battles and bungling that characterized the DHS in the first few years.

/works with DHS too often.

"They're looking for leadership, and they're looking for a focus on economic growth and job creation."

That would explain Obama's 39% approval.

This will most likely be followed by some other brilliant progressive ideas to develop things like:

Dept of Growing Things

Dept of Fighting Other Countries

Dept of Buying and Selling Shiate

Dept of Not Drilling

After 2.5 years of not paying attention Obama finally uncorked his head from his ass and noticed that a lot of people are unemployed. Funny that this only happened with the threat of his own unemployment. Obama has a good chance of keeping his job only because all the Republicans look ans sound like they stepped off a reality show.

Wages have stagnated. Wealth inequality is at an all time high. For the past decade or so people have tried to mitigate this by working more hours, putting more members of the household to work or living on credit. We've pretty much exhausted all of those tools and people are now just going to stop buying so much stuff. Until you figure out how to address that problem, things will only get worse.

Not only that, but the 0 and O have completely different meanings. And when used to as a metaphor when spelling 0bama, well.....a pseudo intellectual like yourself should be able to understand why he is a zero.

No, he sucks because he was a constitutional lawyer and he has this naive delusion that the Congresscritters are, or think they are, actually serving their own constituents. Which is why he caves, every time.

Even if he's a yes-man president - have you seen what the other side is offering?

I'm starting to be convinced that there are many in this country who are actively working to make sure the problem you mention is not addressed... These are the bastards who have 95% of the pie, but apparently feel they are entitled to the whole damn thing and everyone else who isn't immensely wealthy can fight over the crumbs they choose to ignore.

The pathetic part about using "0bama" is that you think its somehow witty.

fta But others, including Gene Sperling, Mr. Obama's chief economic adviser, say public anger over the debt ceiling debate has weakened Republicans and created an opening for bigger ideas like tax incentives for businesses that hire more workers, according to Congressional Democrats who share that view. Democrats are also pushing the White House to help homeowners facing foreclosure.

next week's article "After a contentious standoff, Obama and Republicans reach agreement: No incentives to hire more workers and no help for homeowners facing foreclosure, in exchange for eliminating WIC to fund a tax break for job creators."
