Richard Gere guest stars as Lisa becomes interested with Buddhism.

Yep, no hidden agenda involved in this episode kiddies, none at all. It's just a cartoon.

BigPeeler: Nah, not at all. It's not as if they're recycling episodes eighter ... *cough* veggies *cough* Linda & Paul McCartney
2001-10-29 08:48:37 AM
Im suprised she hasnt shown interest in Buddhism before.
2001-10-29 08:49:40 AM
And it's not as if I can spell _either_.

Spoilers? Chripes, I have a hard enough time laughing at the new episodes without knowledge of the things ahead of time.
2001-10-29 08:51:12 AM
I doubt you can say Lisa is a subversive force for any kind of agenda. The episode where she became a vegetarian made fun of that lifestyle more than it promoted it. Still, I laugh out loud every time I see her vision of what goes in hot dogs. Mmmmm... boot.

And this Treehouse of Horror better not suck like the last ones. They haven't made one as good as the time-travelling toaster story in a LONG while...

Rival, if you cant laugh at the simpsons you must have no or very little sense of humor. The simpsons is fukn hilarious.

-Moe lighting bar on fire to cash in on insurance...

We're ya goin sweety? To find the corpses?

Yeah moe, to find the corpses...

Want me to come with?
-Homer in jail after commiting insurance fraud for Moe...

Moe? Who is going to Hawaii? Are we going to Hawaii? Moe, whos going to Hawaii?!

Hey! Stop saying Hawaii in there!!

The Simpsons are (in my 42 year old opinion) the best show on TV. Possibly of allll tiiime (insert Muhammad Ali impression here.)
2001-10-29 09:36:45 AM
Down twoards the bottom of that page one of the spoilers says 'we don't know anything about this episode but its written by Joel Cohen. being a geek, I was really hoping that was a typo on their part and they meant Joel Coen. But apparently theres a Joel Cohen too. Now I'm just confused.

FishBulb: That's a Simpons ref, isn't it? Mr. Sparkle?

Homer on medical pot and Marge with breast implants - sounds pretty good to me!

"Hhhhhmmmmm -- boooobieeeessss -- ahhrrrlllgghh....."

Ah who cares? The Simpsons haven't been funny for a while, and now rely on cheap celebrity guests each week inplace of actual content. There was a time when the show was, you know, funny, but that is over now. Just like with SNL.
2001-10-29 10:24:39 AM
I really miss Phil Hartman.

The Simpsons is, in my opinion (and I do have a film degree cough cough), one of the best shows ever, and easily one of the funniest. But the last few seasons have flat out sucked. For years the only tv I would watch was the hour long block of repeats Fox would show and I would still rather watch an older episode that I've seen a dozen times than watch any of the last 2 or 3 seasons. It has become a charicature of itself, borrowing hopelessly against its former glory.
2001-10-29 10:30:40 AM
A film degree? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry. Sorry. Thats cool, I was getting a film degree when I went to college, its... a degree at least, but.... It doesn't make you an expert ;p Geez.
2001-10-29 10:43:25 AM
Amen, Habeas. Oh, for the days of Lionell Hutz and "I Can't Believe It's a Law Firm."
2001-10-29 10:44:25 AM
I have a film degree too. What's wrong with a film degree?
2001-10-29 10:46:35 AM
Simpsons is one of the best shows of all time, but unfortunately I think that it has gone a bit flat over the past few years..they might have a good episode here and there, but it just doesn't have it anymore.

The best treehouse of horror was the one with the teachers eating the kids...Uderbraten!!
2001-10-29 11:05:12 AM
nothing is wrong with the film degree the wrongness is The Simpsons is, in my opinion (and I do have a film degree cough cough). Because you know, his opinion is more accurate than anyone elses opinion, because he has a FILM DEGREE.

The time traveling toaster would have to be my favorite Treehouse of Horrors. Quick quiz: What was the name of the story that the sketch was based on? Winner gets a cookie.

Pulling a close second is Bart and Lisa raising the dead:

Lisa: Dad, we did something very bad!
Homer: [eating pork rinds, frowns] Did you wreck the car?
Bart: Nooo!
Homer: [frowns] Did you raise the dead?
Lisa: Yesss!
Homer: [more frowns] But the car's okay?
Kids: Uh-huh.
Homer: [relieved] All right then.

F that, it just means I'm not some cheesy fanboy. I think anyone but a self-righteous jackass would read that post and see it as a bit of self-depricating humor, not intellectual elitism.

But hey, don't we normally value degreed people's opinions over a "lay person's?" If CNN is talking about ancient greece they'll interview a professor of ancient history or some such thing, not some whiner from the Clash of the Titans fan forum.
2001-10-29 11:17:57 AM
I tend to see some form of elitism pretty much everyone online, since it is pretty widespread, so I appologize. I guess I'm a self righteous jackass.... whatever

Gotta agreee with you there; just this morning someone said this to me:
A film degree? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry. Sorry. Thats cool, I was getting a film degree when I went to college, its... a degree at least
2001-10-29 11:33:35 AM
And your point is what exactly?
touchy touchy people everywhere. If you can't make a joke about a film degree, what can you make a joke about?
2001-10-29 11:37:38 AM
Relax, bro...I'm just saying. My skin ain't that thin. If you knew me you'd understand... When I get in an arguement with a friend about movies or such, in the end I always bust out "Well, I have a film degree so you're wrong" as a joke. No one takes it less seriously than I do...

Still tho, the new Simpsons suck.
2001-10-29 11:41:34 AM
Well, I just thought you were being serious, and not joking. Wanted to take some wind out of your sails. Hard to tell sarcasm on a board....
2001-10-29 12:04:23 PM
People say the Simpsons isn't as good as it used to be, but hey nothing lasts forever (I disagree with the first part). And it is still by far and away the BEST TV SHOW on, I would say EVER. The only close show is Futurama, but they have Simpsons writers so that is that.
2001-10-29 12:04:23 PM
Diogenes: "sound of thunder"
2001-10-29 12:23:13 PM
Saying that the Simpsons is the best show on is like saying that it is the coolest car among the Yugo, Edsel, and Le Car. Even if it were true (and I don't think it is), it's not saying much.
2001-10-29 12:26:05 PM
The Simpsons writing is still top notch.I still think The Simpsons is,was, and will always be the best Comedy show ever, even better than Cheers or Seinfeld.
2001-10-29 12:38:34 PM
2001-10-29 12:44:40 PM
Yugo, Edsel, or Le Car.

It's the LeCar, right? Better yet, the wild R5 turbo version of it with rear-wheel-drive and a nice big engine where the backseat used to be...
2001-10-29 12:58:01 PM
Nietzsche wins the cookie! Excellent story. Oreos or Fig Newtons?
2001-10-29 01:20:13 PM
Phish on the simpsons??!?!?!!?!

2001-10-29 03:23:19 PM
Why would anyone want to read spoilers for the Simpsons? Just watch it and enjoy it. I like to be surprised with what happens.
2001-10-29 04:03:38 PM
Anyone notice that the Simpsons halloween special is on November 6th??? They did that last year to. Wtf?
2001-10-29 04:09:16 PM
Quit whining, if you don't think it's good anymore, don't watch. You people sound like the comic book store guy, which is the point of that charachter, to be an ungrateful fan who watches a show every week to biatch about how it isn't as good as it used to be.
2001-10-29 07:59:48 PM
Heh, this is cool. I went to high school with one of those kids, Eric Wirtanen. Goes to umass amherst. Cool to see he's still at it. I never had the patience.
2001-10-29 08:12:18 PM
Simpman76, it's the goddamned world series.

I got plenty of laughs out of the simpsons last season, maybe not as many as in seasons past, but it's still the only half hour of my week that I schedule around the telly.
