Reminds me of the Gumball 3000 or whatever event they had this/last year that had a special on PPV. One car got clocked going about this speed. About 100 exotic cars all racing from NY to LA I believe. This one purple POS hatchback BMW or something kept getting pulled over. Also had a limo and mini-van in it, somewhat humorous. Many many tickets for all of the participants, and a couple had jail.

Correction, just checked the website Gumball 3000 and it was 185 exotic cars. Funny also to watch the cops get baffled about the British and other European cars where the driver is on the right side, since most never saw anything like that in person.

2003-09-04 9:18:55 AM
UA_Pyro, is the Gumball 3000 anything like the Cannonball Run?

2003-09-04 9:34:36 AM
If you're going to get a ticket, get it all the way.

2003-09-04 9:36:43 AM
If his Diablo's tire start shaking at 70 mph, he needs to get his money back.

2003-09-04 9:37:11 AM
What a piece of crap, Any real car can hit 185...

Yea, i think so.
I know theres the movie ( i never saw it ), but theres also a race similar to the gumball 3000 that might be called that.

i think it might be one where they race the speed limits and obey all other traffic laws, but where is the fun in that? if this isnt the right one, there is one that is like that, which seems quite boring.

They obviously couldn't catch Joe Walsh's Maserati doing 185 mph.

2003-09-04 9:38:31 AM
My Maserati does 185... I lost my liscence, now I don't drive.

2003-09-04 9:39:38 AM
El diablo con dinero, in his Diablo, now has to pay the Diablo for going too fast in his Diablo.

2003-09-04 9:40:05 AM
I've had my Porsche to 150. Things are happening real fast and the slightest lapse of judgement will certainly result in death,
fun death, though.

BOO YAH. GUESS WHO LIVED IN LEHIGHTON PA

And frankly your more likely to see the stupid Amish than Lamborghinis... oh well.

blankoboy

That's going to be a disappoinment to his new friends in jail.

2003-09-04 9:42:58 AM
If i had a Super Exotic like that, i'd also be able to afford the ticket that comes along at 185mph.

Donno how the US deals with mad speeding tho.

2003-09-04 9:43:30 AM
There was a movie that came out when I was a kid...called "Gumball Rally". One of the first movies I'd ever seen, I think around 1976.

2003-09-04 9:45:34 AM
this isnt even the full story.

the dude actually gave the local 5-0s a good chase through 2 local towns and it wasn't until the lamborghini got stuck at an intersection that they were able to get him and a passanger out of the car at gun point.

... and they were drunk, of course.

X_Berg

Unfortunately, at those speeds, he's likely to be put up on a misdemeanor reckless driving charge, not to mention the drunk-driving, all with a possibility of jail time. He should be able to afford wonderful legal representation though!

Like Holy_Ell noted, if his ends up doing time, his new found friends are going to be disappointed. Good call call blankoboy!

2003-09-04 9:53:48 AM
I was going to say that he might have a case regarding his statement that he'd have gotten away if he'd done 180, but then I read lshady's post.

If you want to buy a Lambo because it's a beautiful car, great. If you want it just so you can go 180, do yourself (and everybody else on the road) a favor and go racing for real.

I think once you exceed the speed limit by that much in most cases you will lose your licence for a period of time. Not sure of PA's laws on that though.

2003-09-04 9:58:13 AM
Yeah, thats a little silly to go that fast where a cop can get you. Whenever i feel like "stretching my legs" i always scope out a dead part of interstate really late at night, turn around, then hit it.

Anything over 160 leaves pinch marks on my seat. I dont even want to think about 180+.

2003-09-04 9:58:13 AM
Another incomplete article that leaves you asking question like, how did they clock him? Radar or did they pace him?If they paced him, what kind of police vehicle can go that fast? Why was he going so fast?

2003-09-04 9:58:18 AM
Wizzy- In PA 25MPH over the speed limit is 5 points and the loss of your license for at least a year, That speed has got to sting a little bit more (not to mention the DUI).

/plead not guilty and I beat the ticket

2003-09-04 9:58:39 AM
That is only 25 minutes from my house. Knowing that route (443) all the Officer would have had to do was wait a few minutes. The car would have been stuck in the side of a mountain somewhere. No ticket necessary.

2003-09-04 9:58:50 AM
What kind of a dumbass has a Lambo and doesn't have the tires properly balanced? 70? jeeeez.

2003-09-04 9:59:44 AM
Wizzywig-
Pa law: Twice the speed limit: Byebye Licence.

2003-09-04 10:00:04 AM
If he was drunk and ran from the cops, he could be looking at a felony charge or two as well. Even if they plead it down to a high-end misdemeanor, he'll probably still spend some time in jail. In which case, he'd better buy himself a nice dress for the lockup.

2003-09-04 10:02:04 AM
Ah ... the Reliant K car

good times ... good times

2003-09-04 10:02:29 AM
He should have gotten a quad and went to the silt banks to satisfy his need for speed like everyone else does up there.

2003-09-04 10:03:48 AM
He actually got ticketed for going too slow in a rocket-car lane.

Anything over 160 leaves pinch marks on my seat. I dont even want to think about 180+.

Try it on a motorcycle.

Ahhhh, the thread movement towards jail and arse farking has begun

2003-09-04 10:09:40 AM
I find it extremely unlikely that the cops "clocked" him at all. You go much over 100, and it's pretty unlikely that they'll get you with radar. As for pacing, anything with a light bar isn't going much over 110.

2003-09-04 10:10:13 AM
If he can afford that car and the insurance, he can afford an attorney that can get him off.

The charges, farkers, the charges!

Stop that!

2003-09-04 10:10:20 AM
Any asshat who drives a Lamborghini while drunk, doesnt deserve it in the first place. Give it to me.

2003-09-04 10:10:57 AM
Actually, blankoboy started it, I thought I'd bring some dignity to the discussion. Then again, maybe he could share a cell with the erstwhile virus "developer" we were discussing yesterday.

2003-09-04 10:11:48 AM
Ha!... I laughed at the headline because I thought that it was clever, and didn't think he would actually use that as his defense. Now that I've read the article, it's even funnier.

Some stupid people make me laugh. Most, though, make me want to hurt them. (only been at work for 2 hours and already had to talk to 3 stooopid people. Grrr...)

2003-09-04 10:12:50 AM
Best I've ever done was 125.....but I take that as an achievment as it was done in my Honda Civic (stock, I don't mod). Wish I could drive that fast everywhere ;)

2003-09-04 10:14:21 AM
Sorry to hear about your penis, Mr. Faenza.

IshadymilkmanI

There aren't any Amish people up there... that's all old coal mining country.

2003-09-04 10:17:30 AM
i can't believe he got caught.

2003-09-04 10:18:08 AM
Also, anyone find it odd that they caught him at a gas station?

I'm glad this moron's off the road. My car can do 200 mph but I have never taken it above 85 on a public road.

2003-09-04 10:19:15 AM
Magicboy2- I was thinking the same thing. I had a house in Tamaqua for a while and never saw any Amish. That's farther west and south.

2003-09-04 10:19:53 AM
Come on, my Saturn doesn't even shake at 70mph.

2003-09-04 10:20:43 AM
The thing about the Gumball and Cannonball is this:
Way, way back in the sixties or seventies, some guy orignialy from eastern Europe struck a bet with someone that he could go from New York to LA in under 48 hours or something.
He got himself a van, installed the biggest engine available, installed aviation fuel tanks and FAA approved fuel pumps and kicked it, and did it.
The press dubbed this stunt "The Cannonbal Run". Since there was no general speed limit in those days, he got of free.
Some rich people then licked the idea so much that they got together and had an annual race on the same route, for four years. When speed limits had come along, though.
The scheme was eventually ended, but Hollywood had heard about it.
Then came the film Cannonball (without Reynolds), a copy cat called "Gumball" and later the infamous (but funny) Burt Reynolds films.
Now, a few years ago, the Gumball 3000 was invented.
So far, races have been carried out in the US and in Europe.
If you are a regular Jackass watcher, you might have caught the coverage of the last European race, a round trip from London to Moscow (military escort in Russia included).

Besides, Faenza says the wheels on his Lamborghini start to shake when he goes faster than 70.

Yes........in the article...couldn't believe he actually said it.....retard
