MUCH bigger (new window)

/This is 1/2 block from the White House, and one of the best views in downtown DC, IMHO

Sunset from McMath Solar Telescope
The McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope on Kitt Peak is capable of projecting a large upside-down image of the sun into an observing room. I was lucky enough to be invited to observe sunset with a bunch of astronomy camp kids when I was up there on Monday night. The image is actually at a slight angle from upside down, which is preserved in the flip here. 3/3, Pops.

This was shot off-center a little on purpose--yeah, that's the ticket--so that the rectangle is larger at one end and smaller at the other, then flipped horizontally and vertically in post, to mess with your head even more, hehe ;)
