Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "Scanner as Camera"

Description
: : : Use a Scanner to present your image. Difficulty: Subject must be a 3-D object. No use of printed photos or positive/negative film.
We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects! No removal or addition of image elements, no spot treatments, and no HDR images, please.
With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

To have your photo website listed on the Farktography home page, please send your Fark username and url to admin(at)farktography.net and we'll get you up forthwith. (also, indicate if you're willing to share your photographs for use as source images in PhotoShop contests)

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

- Stats can be found here.

Yep. It works.

For those of you wondering --> this 2004 Fark thread is the inspiration for this image.

Aaaand, no. I didn't actually apply any lipstick to Maisy. I cut a carrot into the shape of a cat butt-hole and used it as a stencil. Try explaining that to your kids.

Hot Scanner on Camera Action!
A rare opportunity for the instrumentation behind my farktography entries to be displayed. Taking a picture of a camera-seems kind of perverse, doesn't it?1/3, Pops.

Andy Warhol Soup Cans

The colors are from plastic report folders cut and placed on the scanner.
The striped background is from rapidly sweeping a flashlight over the scanner sensor-thing as it was moving.

COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE
We astronomers are serious about our coffee. The specimen displayed here is my favorite-a medium roast Kona. The brush you can see there is the end of a measuring scoop that came with my grinder and is used for clearing away coffee dust. By now I've pretty much replaced my blood with this stuff. Excuse me while I go make some more. Mmmmm coffee. 2/3, Pops.

Everything is black and white in the moonlight. Even a school bus.

Color image. The bus is a gift from Elsinore in regard to an old "Yellow" theme. :) The setting is my failed attempt at aluminum foil art. The 'school' is a bit more obvious in the larger popped version.

Although this somewhat of a elementary school art project feel, I had a lot of fun making this one, and the next two that are like it. I used bits of beach glass that I have collected over time, and scanned with the transparency adapter.
