Darkhorse23 - ah. Jersey City. So that's how you know about Benny Tudino's. Is the Brass Rail still there in Hoboken? Memory lane...
2003-08-08 02:40:15 PM
Well, the whole frickin area was one big superfund site, all along 1/9...
2003-08-08 02:40:41 PM
i find it amusing that no one has identified what the stuff is. It seemed like speculation whether or not it was algae.
That is creepy.
2003-08-08 02:41:44 PM
Rte 1/9 is a terrible drive.

"Source of New Jersey's hallmark rotten-egg smell finally located"

It's the film reels of "Jersey Girl" that Kevin Smith has buried to save all of humanity from another Bennifer Joint.

2003-08-08 02:46:15 PM
sorry about the smell... too much Bass Ale and Blooming Onion last night.
2003-08-08 02:47:05 PM
When there are no smells coming from New Jersey - now that'll be a story.

Throbbing_gristle Brass Rail is still there. Great place. And yes - 1&9 still sucks to drive on, although they are fixing it up some now.

Hoboken Rules. Best bars around. Lots and lots of drunk young girlthings for the boyz to watch. It's a hoot and a half.
2003-08-08 02:52:31 PM
"The state Department of Environmental Protection poked at the blob..."

They're going to make it angry!

2003-08-08 02:58:16 PM
I thought that smell was from the mullets of Bon Jovi fans.
2003-08-08 02:58:32 PM
Egg Harbor/Tuckerton, home of the Tuckahoe Inn (pun not intended) Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant, and the final resting place of Blinky, Mr Burns' three eyed fish.

2003-08-08 03:00:43 PM
Ahaha! But you're from Long Island?!
2003-08-08 03:02:36 PM
I swear to god the sout-eastern part of jersey needs to secede and become it's own's farkin' paradise compared to camden and north jersey as a whole.

Either that or NYC and Philly should be forced to adopt their respective jersey overflow.
2003-08-08 03:03:32 PM
use guyz are gunna end up sleepin wit da fishes! mark my words.
2003-08-08 03:06:42 PM
Hoboken *was* nice until NYC passed their anti-smoking laws. Now the bars in Hoboken are so crowded with NYC people who want to drink and smoke that a good amount of Hoboken regulars are being forced to go elsewhere due to the influx of outsiders.
2003-08-08 03:07:15 PM

So whaddya saying here, Riogie? That Lawn Guyland is everyones version of paradise? Cmon. I admit that PARTS of LI are quite beautiful.. Montauk, parts of the Hamptons, North Shore but once you get through the Queens Midtown tunnel, LI is a nightmarish shiatscape.
Parts of Parts of jersey are incredible, and at least three of the top-ten wealthiest communities in the US are in NJ. Parts of it are industrial-blight. Lighten up.
2003-08-08 03:07:36 PM
"kiss her where it smells, take her to jersey"

2003-08-08 03:07:42 PM
This isn't referring to anyone's use in particular, but aren't the witticisms like "Bennifer" and "JHo" etc. just getting really old? Am I the only one?
2003-08-08 03:08:48 PM
Kepora_Gebora Long Island is in no way shape or form responsible for the stench NJ plagues on the rest of the NY,PA area. Long Island is a perfect place infoulable of any wrong doing...haha that lie stank like NJ on a hot summer day

/waits for crack needles from New Jersey's beaches to be thrown at him

mysterious substances in new jersey? where could they possibly come from.

mysterious non-toxic substances in new jersey? where could they possibly come from.

/real quandary...
2003-08-08 03:10:37 PM

I've known people from both places... you guys are the ones with the accents :)
2003-08-08 03:11:27 PM
sorry Throbbing_gristle I'm just pulling everyone's leg. Last time I was driving through NJ it was really nice. The interstate was beautiful and green and smell free. Once I went back into NY it smelt just as bad if not worse. The farm area were letting there animals run around and well yaknow. At that point the clothes pins come out and pinched my nose to save me from the brain poisoning smell of fecal matter. In short just playing friend :)
2003-08-08 03:11:29 PM

do you really live in the Tri-State/Metropolitan area? Everyone knows it is medical waste NEEDLES, and crack VIALS!

/lives near enough to the coast to know.
2003-08-08 03:13:34 PM
p38polaris my bad there. I shouldn't rag on NJ like that. Besides a vast majority of it comes from NY. I as a Lohn Gylandah apologizes
2003-08-08 03:14:44 PM
i actually surf and surf-fish the central coast of NJ, and have only a few times ever found anything that disturbing in the water. Condoms and Tampon applicators are the majority of the garbage found.
2003-08-08 03:15:44 PM
water and beaches (and biatches) have been fairly clean for the last 7 years!
2003-08-08 03:16:46 PM
"The state Department of Environmental Protection poked at the blob" I can just see it, 2 scientists standing around the water with a stick saying dude you touch it ! no way dude you touch it !
2003-08-08 03:18:23 PM
Well then (face reddening) Kind words, RyogueShinigami-san. I moved to California 23 years ago and still miss much of the East Coast. I still cant get used to 70-degree days at Christmastime, and the food just isnt the same here, and California people are, well, Californians. East coast chicks rock!
2003-08-08 03:21:14 PM
PianoDemon, I though everyone from New Jersey just drank in parking lots?
2003-08-08 03:21:44 PM
(despite the fishnets and the feather boa... sorry, had to dig into the name)
is right,
I've lived on the coast of NJ all my life, and in the past years it has greatly improved. You can finally see the bottom, and the mysterious brown foam that Ciba Geigy pumped into the ocean has stopped showing up. Now if we could just clean up the some of the scum that comes to visit the beaches.
2003-08-08 03:22:17 PM
East coast chicks do rock Throbbing_Gristle however to paraphase Billy Joel you either meet a cool girl from the south shore or a rich girl from the North. And the 70 degree weather does sound like a Christmas Time Killer. If it isn't less then 35 to me it isn't Christmas at all. Enjoy San Jose
2003-08-08 03:23:04 PM
Being from NJ, I heard that we're suing Ohio for the pollution from their coal plants wafting over here. I'll admit that the northeastern part of the state is a shiathole, but south and west of that, it's mostly mountains, farms and forests.
2003-08-08 03:24:27 PM
>/waits for crack needles from New Jersey's beaches to be thrown at him

They have crack in an injectable format now? I needs to gets me some of dat. ;)
2003-08-08 03:48:25 PM
I remember a story about a similar blob a while back, it was a pile of the super-absorbant gelatinous substance from used diapers. My guess is it's either that or Bruce Springsteen's missing talent.
2003-08-08 03:49:59 PM
I think it's a curse put on New Jersey for not allowing people to pump their own gas.
2003-08-08 03:50:43 PM
One day you will all learn the truth: New Jersey is the greatest state in the nation, bar none. Well, maybe Hawaii. But we can kick their asses so it's okay.

As far as the whole LI vs. NJ thing, I've been dating a girl from the south shore of Nassau County for 2 1/2 years now. And I've come to the conclusion that LI is basically NJ, but sideways. They're virtually identical. So lose the 'tude, dude.

And that chick from B'klyn who was saying shiat about how NJ smells - well, you're from B'klyn. That smell you smell is called fresh air.

I lived in a place in northern NJ that had a horse farm next door. It was :45 minutes away from Yankee Stadium. How can you beat that? You can't.

If everyone from PA and NY thinks NJ is so bad, then stay the 'f off our 'fing roads. It would make going down the shore a pleasant drive. At the very least, stay out of the left 'fing lane! Left is for passing, right is for driving - something they apparently don't teach in PA or NY, or even CT for that matter.

So, uhh, yeah. Take that :-)
2003-08-08 03:51:58 PM
"I think it's a curse put on New Jersey for not allowing people to pump their own gas." - yes, one aspect of living in NJ that SUCKS.
2003-08-08 03:57:49 PM
If you want to pump your own gas, just get out of the car and pump it. What are they going to do, arrest you? Worst case scenario is that the lazy-ass gas jockey finally runs over to your car and does some actual work when he sees you reaching for the forbidden handle.
