krelborne: John Cusack, Alec Baldwin, and Van Jones. Truly, the greatest liberal minds.

vs Victoria Jackson, Ted Nugent and Michele Bachmann.

FTFA: Among those who are very displeased with Arianna's decision to invite Breitbart aboard are former White House Race Hustling Czar Green Jobs Czar Van Jones, whose organization Color of Change launched a vigorous shaming campaign against Breitbart.

Since Breitbart wasn't shamed when his hatchet job on Shirley Sherrod was exposed, it is clear that she/he/it has no shame.

Crosshair: Never kill someone who is hanging themselves.

Indeed.

It's OK to offer them more rope, however.

2011-03-26 12:14:14 PM
wat?

I can't possibly find enough rope to give to conservatives to keep hanging themselves, these days.

Circle Jerk is Complete. Nice job, subby.

Whatever negative thing conservatives accuse others of, you can bet they are actually doing it themselves. That train is never late.

What is the opposite of self-aware? Conservatives are that.

I say put them all in an octagon and put it on PPV. All proceeds go to paying down the national debt.

thefnz1: Nope, I'm the person who doesn't vote at all and hasn't in three election cycles. Derp.

I suppose that means you've ceded any say on anything in the political realm of discourse because you were too lazy to find 10 minutes on a Tuesday to push a button.

Aldon: Whatever negative thing conservatives accuse others of, you can bet they are actually doing it themselves.

Yeah, when you are dealing with the wackos from either party, there is no moral high ground.

Halli: Man these new trolls suck.

No kidding. I used to get about halfway through a post before I realized it was a troll. Now it's one line of obvious derp and away. I really wish these twats would watch Gary for a week or two before they start.

Also, for clarity's sake:

No, I'm the guy who remembers your shtick from the last several threads. Buh Bye.

thefnz1: Actually, if you look at it on an anthro-level, it's always amusing that both of the stained-stream parties often are populated by voters that are actually voting against their own self-interest, but are convinced they are not.

Sophistry is a POWERFUL TOOL. Both sides of the aisle, both sides of the aisle...

That's why I don't vote and only bring popcorn to the arguments.

thefnz1: Normal people realize all politics is is a clusterfark of assholes and getting involved encourages the politicians.

thefnz1: I just spend less time not saving the planet/earth/rain forests/etc, AND...wait for it, giggling at people that do!

Nobody likes people that want to do such things, they just USE THEM.

"That's America, that's how debate is done in America, that's how we decide all of our questions from who blows as a singer to which blathering dictator we should oppose/depose/impose. We don't have beliefs, we don't have positions, we have reactions to other people's beliefs, to other people's positions. As long as you can be shown to be a free thinker opposing the tyranny of the majority's insightlessness then you can look like a hero, and if you have to pull a 180 in a week or so to do it, party on. No one will care/remember what you did last party."

Libras have a whole little industry on hoping conservatives will come on their shows and talk (The Daily Show, The Colbert Report).

Conservatives don't want liberal guests in general and the few that do have liberal guests literally tell them to 'shut up' (The O'rielly factor).

Never said they should. Partisan bloggers are partisan. Everything anyone needs to know about conservatives, or liberals for that matter, can be deduced from their actions.

Fair enough. Won't argue with that.

Take the arguments on thier merit instead of who's mouth it is coming out of.

FTFA: Breitbart called Jones a "commie punk," a "human toxin," a "cockroach," and a "cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak." Oh, and for good measure, he called Color of Change "left-wing freaks." That's the reason HuffPo is giving for pushing him off their front page. That's the violation of HuffPo's "tenets of debate and civil discourse."

I like how they put that last in quotations, as if to suggest that Breitbart's language IS civil discourse. How far does it have to go before it is "uncivil", I wonder.

A moderate is not necessarily a waffler. There is some overlap, but they are not necessarily the same.

OK - this blog post focuses on HuffPo, reactions to Breitbart, and a few celebrities that have contributed to HuffPo. Does HuffPo represent all liberals? Not even close. Was it a trolly headline? Yes. Did the article make its case. No, not even close.

Better?

I think you forget that waffles are delicious.

People can also select a topping for their waffle that makes it even more delicious.

Therefore, your entire argument is invalid.

Did you know you can get bacon jam and whipped butter on waffles?

Everybody's always hating on the waffles.

I bet they are skinny bike messengers that make bad waffles.

Really? It seemed to show quite a few front page HuffPo contributors making ad hominem attacks, similar in substance to those made by Breitbart. It also appears that those contributors have not been subjected to the same punishment given to Breitbart.

Did those other contributors not say those things, or have they lost their front page status? Or...what? Where is the distinction between the commenters that makes this not selective enforcement?

I'm not saying HuffPo didn't act badly, I just question the conclusion that all liberals want conservatives to shut up. The headline is BS, and the article didn't even try to address anyone outside of HuffPo and its contributors.

HuffPo != Liberals

Ah, I got ya. I was thinking about the HuffPo double standard as the "case" they were making, rather than the headline. I'll happily agree the headline is pretty well goofy, and in no way supported by the body of the article.

This is what conservatives actually believe.

Haha, yeah, right, it is definitely conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly known for tactful, earnest discussions with people of the other view, and liberals like John Stewart known for cutting off mics and screaming at anyone whose views or facts they don't like.
