Congrats to Herr Docktor Heinrich Wisenheimer for his almost "hat trick" (if you have to ask, you're not a hockey fan) in wins the past few days. Fioricet soothing the synapses?

Also, hearty congrats to grampy, Meatybrain and MaliFin for beating my ass to second place in recent contests. I hope you feel good trouncing a one armed, handicapped cripple with an impaired brain.
May you bask in your well deserved glory! I mean this, sincerely. Really I do. Honest. Truly. Without malice or contempt. Cross my heart, hope to die. Honest injin.

Hey YSV and Herr Docktor, can't wait to see which of you wins the "Man and His Fine Hat" contest, both are outstanding entries! (Though I'm leaning towards Dr. Suess....)

Yesterday you and YSV were battling it out for 1st. I suspect he'll get a well-deserved win.

/I'm amused that people are still voting for that contest

#2: Herr Docktor Heinrich Wisenheimer..

Ha. Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to vote in that one. I just voted all three of you up, but it didn't change much. Great entries btw! Love the look on Kahn's face, the poem and the great "Ha Ha" guy use!
I'm pulling for Herr Docktor, mostly because YSV and #2 have a shait pile of wins over the years.. :Heheh :)

Question:  Do any of you enter your images in other contests, hosted by a different site?

Just interested. I went to r....t.com and saw a same contest(live there, upcoming here), with a duplicate submission as in Fark. It seems to indicate at least one person is playing both fields, or someone is hijacking images from here and entering them there, or vice-versa.
NTTAWWT. Really. I'm Fark dedicated, so I guess I was just surprised. Wouldn't be my cup o' tea (I really don't drink tea, come to think of it.)

Dumski: . It seems to indicate at least one person is playing both fields, or someone is hijacking images from here and entering them there, or vice-versa. NTTAWWT.

As long as it's their work I have no problem with that, but if they're hijacking other people's stuff and submitting it here as their own work...well, that's another story.  You see liters and noobs posting stuff from other places occasionally, most of them say "not my work," and they don't enable voting. I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't clutter up the contest queue.

If it's someone is doing it habitually, enabling voting, and not giving credit for the source that's cause for the ban-hammer in my opinion.

‘’ 2013-05-23 03:54:09 PM
Uh...change "If it's someone is doing it"  to "If someone is doing it"

Admittedly, I'm the world's worst proofreader. I've published a weekly newsletter for nearly 30 years, but still haven't fine tuned my proofreading.  I published an article just last week that included the phrase "he done did it."  I probably have some sort of error in this correction....

George Babbitt: Flickr hired some graphic design students....

I sometimes use it as an image host (though I haven't been doing much 'shopping these days), and was looking over the changes earlier. The new site isn't the greatest for those of us with older computers that don't care for Javascript-heavy sites. It would be nice if they included an option to switch back to the non-dynamically loading version, like Google Images does.

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else think their new layout wastes a lot of space? There's the fixed positioning for the header, and photo pages now just display the photo on a black background, requiring the viewer to scroll down to view all other content. I had thought it was a no-brainer for web developers that important content should be visible without scrolling down.

/yeah, I'll get over it.

Also, you'd be surprised to hear what gets ranked as "important content" when marketing and sales people drive product design projects.  It could very well be that the new layout IS optimized to show what they consider the most important content at the top.

It's a design thing. The cat is lost in the negative space.

that has to be my favorite thing from the internet. or if not the absolute favorite in the top two or three.

my dad had an ad agency when i was little and maybe because of it i have a love of creative people. i also love a good snark. that IMO is the pinnacle of both.

I wasn't going to do a Lootie (maybe). Also, I did not kick your butt. When I consider the time I spent on that gif, as compared to your very low-key but effective entry, I suspect that you won hearts and minds.
The contest is still pretty close, dammit.

What's the procedure to get feedback on whether a Photoshop contest entry is crossing a line on being NSFW or not? No nudity but some imagery that might now be acceptable for the work place, and I prefer to err on the side of caution. TIA, Perry
