Curious: odenen: "Gimp Forum."

given some of us and our health issues than might be apt. and snarky.

Sitting here typing with left hand and other arm in a sling, I resemble that remark.

Curious. I love that pic of you in 1976! Muttonchops and hairstyle of the day!

If I can find that picture, I'll post my dad at my sisters wedding in 1972. Red plaid jacket, white pants and muttonchops...the real mccoy, 'stache and all.
Jeebus, I was wearing a canary coloured jacket, and my brother in law looked like Buddy Holly.
Good times.

They have Walmarts in your neck of the woods? I never would have thought they would find enough room across the pond to put one up...makes me sad.

Dumski,
Sorry to hear you had that happen. I did the same last fall and it isn't fun. Hopefully the pain is starting to subside. Did you get the straight incision or the s-curve? Six months later and I my arm is back to full use - just in time for spring yard work.. The sturgeon touched a nerve while he was in so I get numbness for the next couple of year and an itchy scar, but yeah, that whole reversing the 40% loss of function makes it worth it all.
Oh, and yeah, I got screwed on the drugs, too. Some crappy stuff with no buzz and just made me sick after a day or two.
Hang in there, you'll be back lugging around dyers sooner than you want.

Thanks for the empathy. This is pretty much the procedure I had done. If doc is not careful on the way down the nerves can be damaged. Lots of crucial anatomy in that part of the arm.

George Babbitt:  Was that done with the Resynthesizer?

yes. a little here, a little there. look by the riders hand on the flag staff. the sky isn't uniform because of the clouds so you have to do smaller bits. along in there is rough. there was some clean up with the eraser (although i'm not sure that's what the Gimp calls it) and some general fixing but the majority of the removal was resynthesizer. the example on the beach shows how clean it can be when it works well. it's pretty powerful and on a computer with some horse power fairly quick. IIRC that was done of a dual core AMD with probably just 2 GB RAM.

my first computer bought dec '95 was an IBM Aptiva. Pentium 100 with 8 MB of RAM. ouch.

it's all about the Pentiums.

‘’ 2013-05-07 01:47:37 AM

Curious: the O is normally posted by the first person in the thread. you see the contest, create an entry, post the O then your entry.

that assumes you have a host available for the O (a resized copy of the real O) but if you are entering you should have. OTOH if your host will barely handle your entry you can ask here for someone to post the O so you may follow it. folks generally will do that if asked.

Thank you. I actually didn't have an entry, but I wanted to make sure if the host of the original image didn't allow hotlinking the image wouldn't disappear. I thought the image would make for some good shops.

Yikes, that is ugleeee. Glad I was out and not watching when they did mine. I had bruises all the way up on my bicep where the Doc went in under the skin to grab the atrophied tendons from the rolled up bicep. Felt like someone had run a hand mixer inside my arm. Glad you are back to 'chopping and in good spirits.

bighairyguy: Theme contest submittal

Aww, it's read. (I added one anyways.)

‘’ 2013-05-07 03:40:22 PM
Hello.  My name is i-dig.  Well not really, but pretty close.  I'm also known around the globe as various shades of f%$#king Panda dude.  I've been out of commission for nearly 1 year being poked, prodded, and skewered.  If the perps were alien sex goddesses that would be OK.  But no, just doctors.  Ugly doctors.  No offense to any doctors here.

verchad told me about a redlit Mr. Rogers movie theme that some Farkenshoppers seemed to like and asked if it could be posted on the Misfit Squirrels in the Squirrel Games contest section for y'all to post entries.  Actually, he suggested if maybe we could post other promising but redlit submissions too.  Sounds groovy.  Any member can post contests so if you be a member, you have Panda blessing to do so.  I think it's OK until/if The Man choose to run over the Squirrels.

If you are not a member but wish to play in these games, email me (eip) and I'll set you up.  There are no fees, no ritual offerings, nor secret squirrel handshakes/dances.  Misfit Squirrels is not now nor ever been a 'competition' to Fark - not even close.  Just another place to play and bullsh*t.  And it's been very quiet lately - me 'thinks time to rattle the joint.

Finally, if you have me on Universal Ignore you may ignore this message.  Toodles.

‘’ 2013-05-07 04:13:56 PM
Hi LightGiver - glad to see you are still hanging around these parts.

I would like to add this about the "Redlight" special contests on Misfit Squirrels:
No contest theme or image is too bad for Misfit Squirrels - we'll gladly take your scraps.  BUT IF a posted contest gets resurrected on the parent site - and that has happened here on Fark - PLEASE post in the original contest.  Just because we are Misfits, doesn't mean we have to be thievin' Misfits.  Thanks.

OK, it's safe to talk now... i hit my daily quota of words. ;)

‘’ 2013-05-07 05:31:59 PM
Greetings i-dig! Hope you are okay.

Moderator(s). This contest in the queue is repeat of this one in January.
With all due respect, instant red-lighting a good submission only to green a repeat is a little unfair. Hmmm?

You are forcing me to break my quota so I won't be able to talk Weds.
Dumski - I'm hanging in there. "okay" is stretching it because one can present convincing arguments that I was never OK.
johnebones - if you like that contest, go ahead and set it up at MS.  I would like to play... I've only done 6 'shops this year... ugh.
