Rowdy quote in ANY film:

"I'm here to chew some bubblegum and KICK SOME ASS...and I'm all out of bubblegum" (followed by beaucoup gunfire, explosions, and chaos). Good times.

Maybe this was a hit in Europe, but I nominate "Belle Epoque" as a cult film. But, those sisters were loverly.

The Day the Fish Came Out -

I don't know where to begin... I watched this insane masterpiece probably a dozen times in my youth back in the days when late night TV showed stuff other than infommercials. Have been trying to find a copy ever since. Closest I've been is a online video place in Canada that has disappeared with my money. Anyone else seen this ?

Here's a few more i'd consider radical. Not sure if they're especially 'cult'.. but hey, what the hay.

[image from too old to be available]
Kinda mainstream, but isn't as known as it should be.

[image from too old to be available]
I am not economically viable!

[image from too old to be available]
Greatest Movie Ever. I suppose it isn't cult because TNT or TBS shows it for 24 Hours straight on XMas.. But.. eh.
2003-07-20 03:35:56 AM
Angelcat: Wow, good one. For what it's worth, that mighthave been the movie Freakyjoe was referring to when he exclaimed "Be careful with that! It's a cult classic!" Makes sense.
2003-07-20 03:42:46 AM
Anyone else seen Aguirre: Wrath of God? My English teacher had us watch it. Veeeeeeery weird. Heads that continue to talk after being cut off, people singing by just saying la la la la la in monotone. Great stuff.

I am drunk and convinced that 98% of you don't have any taste. Which is expected.

Dammit people, get some sack and watch some Kurosawa. Watch some Godfrey Reggio. All I see here is the same ol' BS, that may or may not be "cult" For crying out loud for starters watch "The Zero Effect." Or try "Where the buffalo roam." Sheesh even "The Waking Life" might have enough bite.

But something new people.

/friggin dissaponited, and flame the fark on baby.

2003-07-20 04:25:10 AM
I don't expect anybody wil get this far so late in the game but i still feel the need to express my bitter disappointment. I've looked at every post (i think) and can find no reference to a film that should rate at least a mention if not accolades as one of the more popular cult movies evar. I refer, of course, to the Jack Nicholson vehicle 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'.
I apologise if i have, in fact, missed an earlier reference.
2003-07-20 04:26:34 AM

Most of the Monty Python crew, Cheech & Chong, James Mason, David Bowie, Marty Feldman...
The actual film is so, so. But the writing is pure comedy genius!

"Yes! Your royal monstrosity"!
"Mr. Prostitute. In charge of...discipline"!
"What are you doing, you silly man"!

Geezz! I even said, "use your dagger, Dan"! tonight.

Toss up between Fear of A Black Hat, Christmas Story, and Killer Clowns from Outer Space. I think Fear is the best overall, though.
