I don't understand what Minecraft is. I've seen the ones that replicate 8-bit or 16-bit microprocessor adders, and this, but don't understand what the actual purpose of the game is.

Y'know what ELSE is better than the last two "Predator" movies?

Rectal cancer.

There's roughly 3 levels to the gameplay.

The first is the survival aspect. At night, monsters will come out and attack anybody on the surface. You respawn but any equipment you had is with your body and the hungry monster that was there. So that's one aspect - survive the night.

To survive, you need tools and weapons and a place to live - that's the second aspect. You break down trees to make wood, shape the wood into planks, form the planks into shafts, and use the shafts to make an axe to cut down more trees. Or you make a pickaxe and start mining deep into the ground where you can get Iron, Gold, Diamonds, and so forth for even better weapons and items. So mining, crafting and exploration is another aspect.

The final aspect is creativity. As you break through the stone with your pickaxe you get cobblestone that you can then place wherever you want. Want to build a castle to keep the monsters at bay? Do it. Want an indoor pool in the castle? Divert some water from the ocean or find an underground aquifer to feed your pool. Want a giant skull with lava pouring out of its eyes? Do it. (^)

Last night I started a new world and it was the first one I'd had with a really intricate underground cave system. We're talking acres of underground caverns, flowing water, flowing lava, and just tons of great atmosphere and exploration. I had a grin the whole time just walking around, placing torches to light my way and mining the exposed minerals... until I fell in the lava and all of my items got destroyed.

Either that sounds like fun to you, or it doesn't.

Actually, it never SOUNDS like fun to me. Even when I describe this game to others (and I do enjoy it), when I read what I wrote about it it sounds like the most boring thing ever. But, I've enjoyed playing it, though I don't like how many of the 'neat' things basically rely on bug exploitation (like the elaborate 'railroad' mentioned).

Predators was a hoot. The whole racial/tribal thing was a nice addition, and Lawrence Fishburne was crazy. I did think it was funny having a Spetsnaz member wielding an American machine gun, but oh well.

Think legos, on a computer. And no, not Star Wars Legos or Indiana Jones Legos or any of those games. Just legos.

On a computer.

And then, every once in a while, something attacks you.

Camland is a good minecraft server. Its new and newbie friendly. Forums.camlandmc.com for the forums ( where you must sign up fir the whitelist) and play.camlandmc.com to connect. ( you must apply and be added to the whitelist before you can connect.)

The above dscriptions are accurate to the vanilla gameplay, but server ops add functionality. For example: factions ( like guilds) can war with eachother, or if you prefer you can become a "builder" and be immune to pvp and just build shiat with other like minded individuals.

You should check it out

if you make a bucket out of iron (3 ingots in a little v) you can take the water from a lake and place it where you want it, if you make a 2x2 square hole and put a water source from your bucket in one corner and the opposite cornor it will make all 4 corners water sources that regenerate as sources when taken, and unlimited water source sink is one of the first things you should put in your house after you get access to iron.

sadly this won't work with lava sources and the only way to get more lava sources is to hack or find the lava you need.

also a tip on mining obsidian, carry a bucket of water or two with you into deep mines, when you find a lava pool pour the water on a nearby ledge and it will turn a bunch into obsidian, before mining it with your diamond pick place your water source nearby so flowing water covers the cube you are mining, many times when you break through there will be active lava underneath and the water will quench it before it wrecks the freshly mined obsidian pickups and will turn that into obsidian too, or cobbles if the underlying lava is flowing.

I just watched Predators last night, and I have to say that it was one of the worst movies I have seen for quite some time. Topher Grace's character seemed particularly poorly developed.

That's one way to get obsidian, the other (Better) way is to create a mold for where you want obsidian, fill it with lava, then dump water on it. Instant obsidian without having to use up a diamond pick.

WTF is minecraft.

Also, Predators was good.

2011-02-01 10:43:51 PM
The best part of the game IMO is exploring the surface and caves, so I don't bother building mine shafts or buildings or any of that boring shiat. Get a stack of raw wood, some food and go find a cave. Even save up the skeleton bones and the next time you get back to the surface you can quick harvest some wheat and take a stack of wheat to free up your precious inventory since you no longer have a base.

You can make it down to bedrock in the best cave systems. I have a diamond sword and a clock in my current world; all without ever digging a boring mine shaft.

Die? Chop down a tree and head off in a different direction.

You are joking right? The movie lost me when in the original one Predator beat the hell out of and nearly killed an entire squad of trained military men. Now Adrian Brody is killing Predators left and right. Arnold struggled with the beast.

*************MAD SPOILERS, YO**********************

Brody only kills the one at the end with the help of another predator and the IDF hottie. The Yakuza guy kills one and dies. Oleg kills one with a claymore mine belt buckle and dies. The predators aren't out to efficiently wipe out the human race.

The predator from the first movie really only wanted Arnold. He picked off the rest of his crew so he could fight him bare handed one on one at the end.

They take silly risks like that because it's more fun/challenging. If no predator was ever killed by a human then what is the big deal collecting skulls or even allowing them to have weapons at all.

I didn't love Predators. But then again my favorite predator movie is 2, and apparently that makes me mentally defective.

And I love minecraft. It's like first person lego, except with exploring and the occasional lego monster that tries to kill you.

I just started watching Yogscast. I'm on part 23 where they find the town full of other players acting as NPC's.

Best MineCraft series yet.

Predators worked as it was intended, an entertaining action flick. It was far better than the AvP movies, which had so much potential and were pathetic. The original Predator was such a strong movie, its hard to live up to, but Predators was a worthy sequel.
